Good point - you can spot the Workd brakes, and I'm guessing that the Works/Challenge engine may have a few tell-tale signs as to what it is, but how will you know that they've not forgotten something like the Works clutch, or the Works ECU map?

Though in fairness it's probably quite hard to "forget" something important on a Works car, as they all have those bits, whereas darkened glass is an option that won't be fitted to every car.

The Works that was sitting outside the MINI Challenge tent at Donnington *looked* to have all sorts of extras, so I assumed that it had the Chili pack too - but the rear windows weren't noticeably darker than the fronts.

Is the "darkened" glass just a really *sublte* effect (ie almost impossible to notice to a mere mortal), or is it quite striking (when they remember to fit it)?

And yeah - I'd be tempted to keep the windows that they fitted at the factory, and demand they pay up for a good tint job. Leaves all the seals intact - things are never quite the same once stuff has been removed and reinstalled. Unless the tinters want to take the windows out too!

This is bobbins. Those of us that have been to the factory know that the sledge that carries the car has a bluetooth box that carries the car spec. You don't forget to put tinted windows on on all of the cars. Its a programming error. And then not picked up in QC. If you have accredited quality systems (and I bet they do) its a Cat 1 systematic quality failure.

I'm not letting them take my windows out - remember the R53's when the windscreen used to break and they used to leak on replacement.

I think compensation and an immaculate tint is needed. Us customers should stick together too!

I ordered back in May, have had a bit of a fracas with tinted windows (ViscountCharles will remember) which was resolved by Mini UK almost instantly (didn't want tinted in chili - got what I wanted - a miracle according to some!) and sort of generallly put the thing in the back of my mind as I asked for a 58 delivery on September 1st...

This was fine until dealership called last weekend - "We've got the Demonstrator in - want to come down and take it for a spin?"

YES PLEASE!!!

So I went down there on Saturday, and first off had all the paperwork to complete, including trade-in of my old S (sorry Pepper, it's been fun!!) a few dealer-fit options to go through, etc etc... all the time a slick little black missile was sitting outside the dealership taunting me...

So I finally got my test drive. The dealership is just off the M4, and being a busy weekend at Heathrow I wasn't really expecting to get that much of a chance to put my foot down, but I can tell you by the end of the test drive they needed a crowbar to get my hands off the wheel - my partner said I had the "Mini Grin" on my face for most of the time.

So I have really given myself a problem. According to the ordering system, my baby was born on Friday, and is probably on the back of the stork-truck en route to dealership today. As I said there's a few dealer-fit bits n bobs to get done, but the crux of it is this...

I have to sit on my hands for a MONTH, KNOWING that MY JCW is sitting in a paddock less than 5 miles away, AND THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO!!!!

...I still think it's worth it to get a '58 plate though ;-)

CANNOT WAIT!!!

I'll publish piccies and update my stats after the "big day" (If I can get away from the steering wheel and near a PC for long enough...)

Or maybe someone in MINI deleted them all........

I'll see what the dealership says. If they can guarantee a perfect job installing the glass then fine. If not, I'll go down the window tint method.

Thanks for all the replies.

I might be happy with a set of these and £300 compensation for messing up my Chilli pack and the emotional and mental stress it has casued me and my car.

Our little MINI (JCW) just finished up Monday August 4th and is currently at the dock in Southampton waiting to board a ship to the states. Anyone in the the Southampton area go say hi to our MINI! Is there any live photos available of the MINI loading area or is that a restricted area?

For me its even worse.
Since the 15 July my car is in BWM Switzerland but i can't get it till mid of september because the idiots of BMW Switzerland prepare a national Marketingevent for the 5.9.(after the worlwide). Before that no car will be delivered to any customer. First time in my life that....my future car is waiting for me....

I did not think the crown spokes fitted because of the Works calipers...
