Offline | Hmm. I don't understand. They've recalled *all* the launch cars? Because the fitted brakes were too big, or too small? At the front, or the rear? Only when I test-drove one a couple of weeks ago, the front discs were *massive* - they looked noticeably bigger than the discs fitted to the S's on the same forecourt. But the rears looked about the same size. And on the road, the JCW car's brakes could really stop the car, again, much better than the brakes I remember in my one drive of the R56 S. So were the dealership cars OK, or are they going back? And will the change make the brakes even better, or worse? |

Offline | The rotors fitted to the front brakes are the those from the non-JCW Cooper S, which are a wee bit too small for the ginormous caliper of the JCW. Looking at the pics, I would say the brakes are going to work fine with the smaller rotor, but would work better with the larger grab area of the bigger rotor - but the equipment isn't as advertised, so they are swapping them over at the dealer level. |

Offline | Mine is an earlish one but has the correct rotors. I just popped out and had a look. Thanks for the photos - great reference. My dealer told me that they were looking into batch variations beofre they called my car in. ![]() WhatCar? Claim: “As hot hatches go, it’s hotter than a blacksmith’s armpit.” |

Offline | Mine is going in shortly for the recall. Had a look and the rotors seem to be the right ones. No gaps in the calipers. The car is also getting the darkened glass fitted today, marks/rip in the leather seats, window seals that are falling off are getting replaced and all the small niggly things looked at. I don't really blame the dealer, more the factory for the problems. If I go down the road lat ooking for compensation, who do I speak to? Mini UK customer service, or the dealership? |

| Syd | This is all very worrying indeed - with my new JCW only days away from delivery! ![]() Past performance not good, either. My first JCW210 was 2 months late (due to JCW exhaust problem on July 2004 cars) and second 2 weeks late (due to dealer forgetting to order aero kit). This is a shockingly bad **** up, on what is a safety item. People need sacking for this. What makes it even worse is that people, who have just spent upwards of £20k on a new car, then have to fart around back at the dealer, who won't have the parts in. They are bound to be on back order and you then lose the use of your new toy. Well, if it does happen with mine, I'll have their demo (assuming its not OTR), until its fixed and I'll have some money off, for messing me around. MINI's performance over such issues is pretty much the same as the rest of a don't care culture industry. People just don't care any more. My GF's R56 MCS had three air bag/seat belt warning light issues, a colleague (who bought her R56 MCS on my recommendation) has had marked leather, badly applied stripes, a catching on the bodywork bonnet and the airbag lights issue (do they use monkeys at Oxford to connect up the wiring?). The dealer performance is always slow and ineffective - visit, check, no parts, re-visit, wrong parts, re-visit, 50/50 if it fixed. It goes on. No doubt, others will vociferously defend the system or their dealer, but in my experience, they usually are a dealer or work for one. Customer "Service" at BMW level is somewhat of an oxymoron, resulting in one of the best products (apart form quality control) ever on the road to have the shine taken off it. It makes me so mad - but you only have to drive down the road (assuming everything's working) to totally forget it all!! UNLESS YOU LIVE LIFE ON THE EDGE, YOU ARE TAKING UP TOO MUCH SPACE |

| Syd | Just looked at Rogan200's post in the JCW Ordered!!! Anyone Else. The question was about tyres, but in the two photots, the white car on Dunlops has the wrong discs, I think. Assume dealer's demo car. That's really good, when all the budding Stigs go and give it some serious welly. UNLESS YOU LIVE LIFE ON THE EDGE, YOU ARE TAKING UP TOO MUCH SPACE |

Offline | That was the dealers car with the wrong discs. They have now fitted the correct ones. I drove it with the incorrect ones and the brakes still performed just fine tbh! My car is with them now waiting for my delivery date, and it has the correct discs, and has the tinted windows.Apparently the disc thing affected the first 150 cars or something like that! |

| Syd | Took delivery yesterday evening. Right brakes. Darkened rear glass present and correct. I have driven many miles in R53 JCW210 and R56 MCS, but this is another quantum leap. VERY pleased with it .Handover best yet. 11/10 for Tim, Rachel and Phil and the Team at Soper MINI, Lincoln ![]() UNLESS YOU LIVE LIFE ON THE EDGE, YOU ARE TAKING UP TOO MUCH SPACE |

Offline | If you look ath the two pictures in the above post from this thread, it is vusually obvious if you have the wrong size discs by looking at the gap between disc and caliper. |

Offline | Just to add a curved ball. I had spots fitted to mine - it came with a chrome strip under the grill. It has taken 4 weeks to sort. It turns out my JCW Aero kit had the wrong grill from the factory aero kit fitted by mistake....... You can tell by looking at the pattern of the grill cells. See if they match the bit under the bumper ![]() WhatCar? Claim: “As hot hatches go, it’s hotter than a blacksmith’s armpit.” |
