Offline | BMW need a rethink on 2007 mcs HP output If as widley reported the new cs will have the same 170hp as the present version then I think BMW may have to go back to the drawing-board. Because Renault are about to launch the new clio sport with a 2.0-litre engine with 197hp for under 16k. Granted it won't be as cool as a mini but it will have much better equipment level as standard and so be at least a couple of thousand pound cheaper. So I think BMW need close to 200hp for the cs with the works version adding another 30hp at least. |

Offline | Give BMW a chance I think you may find that BMW would use the Peugeot 278bhp as a bench mark to aim for, for the 'S' WORKS . This is what the 207R CUP will have accoding to magazines. I am sure they could make it reliable I hope, That would be nice I would therefore look at the 'S' having about 190 - 210 bhp to compete like you say with the little hot hatches coming out ![]() |

Offline | Ah... I think he meant "widdle-y", as in weak bladder control. Understandable confusion all round. No engine upgrade required - underpants upgrade required!![]() ![]() |

Offline | Cooperama I don't wish to go off topic here, but as your avatar suggests you are a man of experience in these matters, I must ask you what brand of incontinence pants would you recommend? At my age one does have to careful about such things, and I could see that upgraded underpants would be an absolute boon should I find the engine upgrade too exciting. ![]() ![]() |

| Now With More Cowbell | The Renault has gone on a pie'n'beer diet though - it's up to 2,728 lbs (I think it was around 2,400 in the last iteration), which will make it at least as heavy as the new MCS. Its engine will be comparatively low on torque (~145 lb/ft; I don't have the figure at hand) and thus a good 25-30 lbs down on the next MCS. the MINI thus might be empirically slower, but probably a little more rewarding to drive because it will feel somewhat faster with its better torque band. Of course, a turbo engine will also be a lot more tunable than an atmospheric one as well. Global Moderator |
