The last date the original MCS will be produced

According to the BMW Vin decoder, the current MINI Cooper S will cease production on August 27th. Do you think this is accurate, since they will not be taking new orders until November? Will there be a few months when MINIs are not available? Will you wear a black armband on this day? Do you think this date is dangerously close the the date of the apocalypse from Terminator 2?

June 1971 - that's when the last *original* Mini Cooper S was produced.

However you could be referring to the New MINI Cooper S in which case it's not the original...

Pedantic moi?!

Pedantic, vous?!

Being anally retentive I actually discounted that because they were done as part of the post-1990 revival (actually they were producing kits for a while before that were they not?) of the classic Cooper and Cooper S.

They still do a 90BHP conversion for the classic MPI which is badged as an S. You can't buy a kit so it can only be fitted by John Cooper Works I believe.

LOL, you sold your classic

I'm about to straddle the dark and the light - a 90BHP works conversion might be something I'd do at some point with my MPI, certainly sounds good

It's only now that I can afford a new one but I have the same problem with roadside parking at the moment. Luckily we have a large enough front garden to accomodate at least one, maybe two Minis so guess what's gonna happen to the front garden - Mini parking only!

Anyway, this is way off topic - sorry Zipperblues

You all need to think of other markets around the world as well. Over here in Australia we won't be seeing the new Generation MINI for at least another 12 months, so there will need to be stock numbers continuing to be delivered until that time. From what i've heard, there will be an overlap in the factory to cater for this.

Blue Cooper

Hi, folks,

I've been reading rumors on NAM that the 06 model will be produced into October. I thought they were closing the factory for retooling on August 1st. Anyone know more about this?

My MINI is starting production on Monday (woo hoo!!!). A little close to August for my taste if they are shutting down production then, but I'm terribly excited!

I got this info from the BMW vin decoder. Someone go stick in a vin from other models and see what you get. There is probably no end date for the convertable yet.
