S Performance Figures

Any indication of the performance figures the new S will give us?

Also as there is a lot of talk about improved MPG, was there any indication how much of an improvement?

Only the performance and fuel figures mentioned in here: http://www.mini2.com/article380-2nd-...ails-long.html Nothing more detailed officially at this stage.

I was reading around at work today and autocar mentioned something interesting, an 'overboost feature'. Supposedly under hard acceleration the torque increases to 192 lb ft, which if true is a bit funky...

This is on MINI2 as well, the overboost feature. It's detailed in the full press release.

Paul, if don't mind could you clarify the following taken out from the official press release

"the intake air compressed by the turbocharger flows through intercoolers"

so are they using more than one or it's a typo?
thanks

Cant really elaborate, apart from direct questions (and I didn't ask that) there was no real elaboration on the engine etc.

Taken from 4Car's review.....

Quote:
Official performance and fuel consumption figures haven't yet been ratified or released, but the Cooper S is going to be substantially quicker 0-60 than the current model (7.2 seconds), and more economical; it will use less than 7 litres of petrol per 100km (40.4mpg)

If this true, that is a considerable saving on fuel

From the official release "A further advantage is that both technologies help to significantly reduce fuel consumption: Depending on the route, fuel consumption is down by up to 20 percent and in the EU test cycle the car’s fuel consumption has been reduced by approximately 12.5 percent."
