Makes one wonder if there will be an aftermarket bonnet for the S or whether the Cooper bonnet will be a direct swap with the S. I can see that many of us would want to make a bonnet replacement (or scoop removal/replacement). Now that MINI has replaced the front grill with the black mesh (which would have been my first mod) that will be first thing I do, as long as my personal financial officer (spouse) frees the funds.

agree, the slat grill will be the first mod on the list, and seeing those images by Rawk I think a Cooper bonnet will be too

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

The scoop doesn't bother me.

It's simply a design element. Some design elements are functional and some aren't. This one was and now it isn't. But it looks good and that's all that's asked of design elements (except for some recent BMW design ideas but that's another story).

The cooper isn't a turbo I dont think.

I cant believe that BMW spent all the money on a completely new model that looks so similar to the original.

The scoop is a joke.

Surely they could have come up with a bulge here or there, but a pretend scoop- I'd be ashamed to drive it.

I recently took a trip to South America and noticed that a lot of the young people had put fake hood scoops on their cars. I thought this was funny.

Nah, I think the scoop adds a bit more character to the front of the car.

In case you all missed the news, the scoop apparently does serve a purpose. http://www.mini2.com/galleries/showp...hp?photo=43190

I Work for a MINI Dealership, and on a course i learned that when they driected ducting through the bonnet scoop to the intercooler, it was recienving alot more forced air and the bhp was about 40hp more that they intended ever giving the NEw mini, so they decided just to blank it off...

No one seems to have a problem with the aerokit which offers no particular advantage in aerodynamics or performance. leave the scoop alone. At least it has some kind of lineage from the previouse S rather than a saxo with a scoop stuck on and a "turbo" badge on the back!
