Offline | Hmm, good phots. They certainly seem to show that theres enough clearance above the engine to place an intercooler, however, the rest of the engine bay looks so full, I dont think there would be room for accociated pipe work etc.... So, to all thoses thinking the scoop is going to be utilised by the JCW car, I have to say, I very, very much doubt it......, especially with the soft 'head protecting' pedestrian impact crash laws..... |

Offline | MINI should have considered utilizing the fake scoop as a CAI ( the fake scoop can be a nice chance for a true CAI, imagine the air diverted directly to the filter. After marker vendors will party with this prospect, for sure) so that they wouldn't have to admit that they've kept it for cosmetic reasons only and we would have saved the embarrassment also. True that JCW may also drop the idea, time will tell. I think that they will be far easier for them now to "produce" hp gains. The ecu tuning will be far more effective in terms of power increase. ps Paul, thanks again for the pics |

Offline | I wonder if that engine hasn't been "decorated" yet. I think they'll spruce it up a bit with some covers and so on. The look aside, there's no denying that this is a much more modern engine. |

Offline | I still don't think that's how it will look when finalised. It hasn't got any logos or anything in that picture. I would like to think that they'll dress it up a little, but even if they don't, it doesn't really matter, although I can see why it would to some. |

Offline | When you look under the bonet of the current s/s works there's just something about it that sets it apart from other cars in it's class; It looks special, tidy and purposeful, and every part is pronouced, Supercharger, Air filter, Silver engine mount etc, whereas the new car just looks like a mass of black plastic crammed into place; as about as intersting as the guttering on the back of my house, or indeed tony's fridge ![]() |
