canceling pre order

Hi All,

been looking to update my 03 mcs now that it is hitting the 46k miles mark, and had decided to put a deposit down on the new r56 mini..

though now i am regretting my decision, I have had time to mull over the new update to the bmw mini and for me it has lost its appeal, dont get me wrong, i think that it offer alot for many mini owners, it doesnt appear has not taken a step in the direction i thought it could take. It maybe a bit to contrived?? i hate the beadie eyed lights! the exhaust system hanging low, the fake scoop... the fussy controls in the interior....

i know have 3 options, find myself a nearly new cooper s works... buy a elise s2 (and a second car for practicality issues) or something completely different!!

i have owned 2 minis.. an early 51 plate cooper and a 03 plate cooper s... they have been good cars.. not without their troubles.. but I have enjoyed owning them...

When you say beady eyes, what do you mean? When the tape is off the chrome edge of the glass the new lights are pretty huge.

it has a kind of kids car look at the front.. i'm not saying the car is wrong, its just lost its appeal to me a little with this make over... however subtle...

Personally, I don't like the new Mini. Don't like the lights. The centre console looks like something out of a Ford Ka.
The original Mini hardly changed (apart from the Clubman era), so why change things after a few years?

Rant over!

As I said in my report you could easily replace the orange for silver/clear indicators and that "problem" would be solved. That would be No.1 on my list of quick mods to do for sure!

The interior plastics are not (according to the MINI reps at the test drive) in the final production materials, it will be interesting to see how much of a difference the finish makes.

The softening and "cuteness" started with the '05 update really didn't it, but the S dodged it that time around.

From what I've seen and read so far I'm actually quite excited about the new car. I certainly wouldnt go cancelling an order based on some still taped up long distance shots and some disguised interior images.

I'm especially excited by the prospect of a JCW model that has it's own look. That will certainly be on my list in a couple of years time.

You'd also have to option of sticking a M-Series engine in the back too!
