Offline | 2008 Jcw If the planned introduction for the JCW is October 2007 how far along in development would they be at this point? What role if any will Mike Cooper's group have in the engine development? |

Offline | John Cooper Garages closed its doors today for all time. I doubt if there is to be any real involvement in the car from here on forward, except perhaps for Mike Cooper being wheeled out to meet a greet and smile his smile at PR events. |

Offline | I see they still have their website up, too bad they are closing a lot of history coming to an end. In any event back to my other question where do you think are in engine development for the Works MINI? Do you think they will carry over some of the current JCW upgrades like brakes and suspensions? |

Offline | yes, i wouldnt be surprised if the Works car becomes a distinct model, with all these bits added. I also wouldnt be surprised if the whole 'dealer fit' option to retro fit stops happening. If they are going to pump the turbo engine up from 170 to around a hopeful 230 bhp, then a lot of internal work would need to happen for warranty purposes. So I would guess that the Works will be quite different, in similar ways that the current model Cooper angine id differnt from the Cooper S. We all know you cant just add the supercharger tot he current car. no real idea what they will be doing to the car to get this extra performance though... |

Offline | yes, that shouldnt be a problem, but i wouldnt hang around getting it done. JCW will still be selling kits from their 'shop', they just wont be able to fit them anymore... |

Offline | New JCW to have 230+hp?? Apparently BMW is serious this time. Not that the current JCW isn’t fast, but it’s clear that BMW will need more power if they are to position the MCS JCW against such cars as the new VW GTI or Civic Si. So first on the agenda will be the launching the next generation JCW MCS with around 225-230bhp in late 2007 as a 2008 model. http://motoringfile.com/2006/07/31/s...-jcw-cooper-s/ |

Offline | Yes, from Jan this year: "But the one question this has given rise to again and again with MINI enthusiasts has been, "I like it, but what about the next generation S works?". So enough pondering, MINI2 has gathered information from numerous sources and here's a little taster of what's to come for you. Before we approach the "what?", we'll address the "when?". We believe that the range topping Cooper S Works will arrive, at the earliest, in the Autumn of 2007. So if you're tempted by a GP, it could be more than a year from the GP's arrival that the next generation Works tempts you away, and if you're just waiting, put your feet up and relax a while. We've heard a few different murmurs about the Works S, but it's certain the car will pack more of a punch than the current Works, but not a massive amount more. The engine will weigh in with just over 220 bhp, and in the region 205 lb/ft of torque. The car will feature many unique components, and not just engine components, but trim and bodywork details, including a revised front end to improve cooling and general efficiency. Due to the large number of modifications this car will feature, it is highly unlikely the next generation Works will be available as a dealer conversion, but IF it does become available via the dealer, expect to pay a large mark up compared to the factory Works." http://www.mini2.com/article344-excl...-cooper-s.html |

Offline | Any indication that they may produce a new model GP yet? I know this is a bit quick off the mark now that people are only just taking delivery of the current GP but do you think the GP concept will get carried over to the new model? I cannot see why not, and I have to admit I would like to see what they could do....... (Just offer us a few more colour options please Mini......) |
