![]() Dooper is the dogz! | '07 S - loves and hates.... Loves.... - new interior (especially the red), and the ability to change the lighting, the inbuilt radio looks really neat - am liking the new front view, and aero style grille - the whole squat stance of the S - less cheeky than the current look, but looks ready to pounce! - the rear bumper with the mesh insert gives the back a very purposeful stance, and differntiates it more than the current S from the Cooper - big car options such as the easy-go (or whatever it is called) Hates.... - all the alloy designs have seen so far (tho a dark colour and some decent aftermarket charcoal alloys would sort that! )- outturned headlights, tho think they might grow on me - some of the details seem a bit oversized, such as the boot handle, the side repeater surrounds Am sure I will have some more to add later on.... ![]() |

![]() Working at MINI Chiswick | I love the interior now after thinking is was cr@p when i first saw the spy pics last year I agree all the wheels look pretty pants and don't like the MASSIVE boot handle or the plastic C piller covers that now replace the good looking wrap around glass But im still going to get but where do you start on the spec list (365 interior options )![]() |

Offline | Hates: Over sized speedo with too much cluttered functionality, like stero controls Integrated stereo design - stupid idea, cuts down the options for non mini upgrades headlight - goofy cross eyed design, and it looks like its wearing 'Japanese Sniper Glasses' with those gaps between headlight and outer crome Built in satnav option looks weak - no map display for instance.... Likes: Double opening (tilt) sunroof - fresh air option for rear seat passengers at last general overall design is good Standard performance of the S should be stronger than current model.... |

Offline | It's great that the Mini has got a better engine, steering and last but not least a lot better fuel consumption. But they should not have touched the outside. And the sound of the engine is way to heavy for the character of a Mini, it's like you hear the engine of some other big v8 muscle car riding next to it or something but invisible, or least in that direction, not from a Mini. I miss something while looking at this car, almost that I think it's a fake Mini. The car lost something of it's unique youthly sparkle that's is part of it's character. |

Offline | loves: max torque at 1600rpm improved fuel economy better materials for interior hates: more rounded shape less boxy looks like grill was stolen headlights rear spoiler It's amazing that they could make minor visual changes and turn this into a rather ugly car. One of my dislikes in the first gen was the scoop for the S. And now they leave it on just for looks. Very disappointed in the design changes. ![]() |

Offline | Like; Interior Door trim Front Aero Bumper (yet to see rear) Light's pack; Though it's a gimmick that won't get used. Comfort Access 's' Spoiler Better mGP!! I mean mpg...sorry errr.....That's it. Hate; Integrated stereo Oversized speedo Rear fog lamps on both models look awfull Rear light clusters too big. Oversized fog/sidelights, Side repeater's and surrounds very ugly-worst bit IMO Tacky use of 'wing' emblem everywhere. Overdose of toggles: which customers will have to fork out £££'s for, in order to avoid blanks, Which Mini knows, and is exploiting. Loss of supercharger; looses it's character IMO Loss of clamshell bonnet, Disjointed Headlights. Loss of wrap-around glass Wiper area, and loss of honeycombe grilles. (pedestrian safety -I know) No darkened glass option; That looked cool. All the wheels; apart from web spokes, which aren't new anyway, Oh and the ones pictured on the yellow 's' @ the motorshow-That car looks nice, more rear view needed though. Overall I think the R56 is okay; I don't think it's kept any of the charm, character, or design cues from the original MINI as the 'old' New MINI did. It looks more ordinary, but saying all that If I had a choice; I would choose an R56 mini over any of the small hatchbacks on the market today, and i'm sure it won't dissapoint those who have ordered one At the end of the day; Love it or hate it, the R56 will be around for the next 4/5 years and I really hope it grows on me. |
