About time too. I think they've finally hit the 21st century and realised that a cassette player on a £16k car is taking the p***

There are photos of it, I think on the international MINI.com site. It's like the 3 spoke, but with one less spoke.

The Americans get AC as standard and pay a lot less than we do. Australia also get AC, interior light package, storage etc for about the same prices as our base spec models (I also recognise their wages are lower than ours in general which makes it more expensive in Aus especially). Why do BMW insist we pay extra for options that are standard on all of the Minis competetors?

I believe it is because our cars don't carry a hefty VAT tax as part of the sticker price, therefore we get more bits for the money here.

What MiniVee says is right, there's a few threads that discuss that here and the "on the road" prices are not so far apart at all.

Pretty good that it now has an aux input..... although that should be expected in a new car these days

So, basically, the standard spec is the same as the current model, with the addition of ;

Head Airbags for Driver and Front Passenger
Radio-controlled Alarm
Ignition Start / Stop button
Reach Steering Column Adjustment
AUX-In Point, for external audio devices

Which, in my opinion, justifies the small price increase. And, yes, the AUX-In Point will allow you to plug your iPod in as standard (or a Walkman for those of us that still miss cassettes!! )

Would you be happier if everything you (but not everyone!) want as standard was included in the price, but the starting price was adjusted accordingly?

If the starting price was £500 more (for example) but A/C was standard what have we actually achieved, apart from "matching" the competitors?

Which of MINI's competitors come with ABS, CBC, Disc Brakes all round, EBD, 6 Airbags, Remote Central Locking, etc, etc as standard on all models?

We already get an alarm. So basically it's head airbags and aux input as "current" additional options for free, and some other nice additions to the basic model (like reach adjustments etc.).

Personally the price increase is about what I expected, and the slightly improved spec helps justify it.
