Shall I take the plunge?

Not sure whether to put my name down for a new second gen MCS, I have been looking on minicherished and a similar MCS to mine is up for £17,995. I have a May 2005 Cooper S which has only done 5.5k miles (previous owner was my old boss who had bought it as a run around as not to put many miles on his M6 but the plan never happened!).

It won't be long until I have to start doing a fair few miles myself as my girlfriend is moving to Carlisle & I am in Newcastle so will have to do that trip at least once every week. What I was thinking is if I get a decent price for my MCS the extra I pay for a new MCS with better MPG will be saved in the fuel bill, I currently put in £45 a week.

What are peoples thoughts? How are prices for the new MCS expected to increase over the current model?

Prices have already been confirmed in the press release (www.mini2.com/news.html). The base price is basically up £500, but you get some more stuff standard (aux input, 6 airbags etc).

Personally, I'd go for it. Especially with the better fuel economy.

Thanks for the info Paul, I really am tempted and worry if I leave it to long the value of my current car will drop. Will have to pay the dealer a visit!
