Offline | 2006 JCW MCS vs 2007 MCS Well, I have the option of buying a 2006 JCW MCS with JCW suspension kit or waiting for a 2007 MCS: I don't need a new car straight away, but I do need one by the spring, and therefore waiting for the 2008 JCW is, unfortunately, not viable. So, which to choose? I've seen that the 80-120 times are a bit faster in the '06 JCW than the '07 MCS, but how about 0-62 times or Nurburgring laps? Does anyone have those numbers available? I seem unable to find proper times for the '06 JCW MCS cars. Finally, a question for those lucky people (or person) who have driven a 2007 MCS: Which car would you choose, if you had the option of either and didn't have to worry too much about cost? |

| MINIMAD | I think MINIAC may be right, with the JCG closing down, and BMW now owning all JCW rights, it would make sense, its a cheaper option for them, and thats what BMW are about. It would also benefit all JCW owners as it would be a bit more prestige and would help with resale the price for sure. After all you cant buy a 3 series and go to your local dealer to get an M3 kit Time is the only answer!!!!???????????????????? ![]() Taking care of business |

Offline | I think you might be wrong mate..... remember, no simple 'pulley' change will be available on the futures MCS, its going to need serious work to get it to BMW standards of engineering/quality/reliability in order to pump out the suppossed 50/60bhp more..... yes, aftermarket tuners will just chip it to up the boost, but thats not the JCW/BMW way..... So yes, might well only be available as a 'model' of the production line next time round.... we'll have to see.... |

Offline | Bump. ![]() AndrewH and I were speaking to our local dealer today and he mentioned a couple of points about the JCW tuning options for the R56. This may be old news to those on MINI2, and apologies if so, but he claims the power increase will only be 13kW, from 128kW to 141kW (190bhp). He also mentioned that the kit would be retro fit for the first 18 months or so and the Australian fitted pricing would be around AU$4K (approx £1500). Would love some feedback on these comments please. ![]() ![]() Cheers Liam |

| Remember | There is no JCW tuning kit for the R56, the JCW will be a seperate model in the range, so not retrofit to a standard MCS ![]() However, don't rule out the chance to buy maybe a sound kit for the MCS or Cooper, along with all the other JCW accessories which are already out. But do not go buying an R56 expecting to be able to tranform it into a JCW like on the old R53. The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

Offline | Now that you say that, I had heard that before ... hmm, it's unlike Rob from the local dealer to be telling porkies, so will be interested to quiz hime some more. ![]() ![]() |

| Remember | Don't worry a few dealers over here too have been presuming that the JCW will be the same as last time, offical communiction on the JCW and its position is so far nil to dealers so its understandable that they are making this guess on it. Easiest way to explain it to him is the same way that BMW use the M badge, lots of accessories and tuning bits to have on the standard cars, but then the actual M car is a total package, this is how the JCW will sit from what I have heard ![]() The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

Offline | It's not so much presuming as being told by one of the senior BMW Australia product people who apparently spends a fair bit of time in Germany at the BMW test facilities. The fact that they have specific power figures and pricing seems to add weight to what he said. But I think your probably right, it's probably more like a mild JCW tune kit for R56 S's with a more potent dedicated JCW model coming from the factory only. Guess we'll just have to wait and see ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

| MINI2 Regular | I really hope thats just a stage one upgrade with further stages to follow as 175bhp to 192bhp is fairly unimpressive. And if it costs £1000 as well, surely a Quicksilver exhaust, Remap & K&N would give better gains than that and hopefully less than a £1000 as well. Frankly I'm getting the impression this is a fairly unimpressive upgrade because they intend to intend a factory JCW model. |

| Remember | That is just the new version of the sound kit, I just wasn't aware this time it would give such a power increase , but to be fair it was a bit of an unknown as there wasn't a sound kit on the last model, only the tuning kits. But still expect a proper JCW (M style) MINI ![]() The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

Offline | Quicksilver's numbers have not yet been confirmed. An exhaust, intake and ECU for $2000 USD (installed) for an official 30 HP and 20ft./lbs. of full time torque... all while keeping your factory warranty in tact. Put me on the list. ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike. I'm a driving enthusiast... and I still like the R56" |
