Mini Salesmen a letdown

I went to my local dealership in Falmouth in Cornwall today to have a look at some mini's and get some information on the new Cooper S. Since I've have purchased my mini from there last year, the salesman has changed and since im only 18, i walked in there today and they looked down at me as if "you wish mate". They didn't even say can i help you, just the usual look as if, theres no point in asking him.

As I wanted to get more information on the Cooper S, i didn't get it and felt let down. Im not sure whether i shall be following up my interest and maybe forced to look for a different manufacture as it has pi**ed me off silly .

I still like the car but im not sure what to do. Im definetly not giving some BLOBBING salesman any comission from me.

I wandered if anyone out there had any advice to give?

Cheers

Change dealers is my advice!!

i went to harold wood mini to get new info about it, and of the 8 desks only two people were there and neither decided to even step out of the boxed room they were in even with me looking through the window waiting to come out.

i go to a different one now in southend (i think)its a lot more further but its much more friendly and are greeted soon as you drive onto the forecourt. they actually seem like they want to sell too, i went three weeks ago and they had 4 rows of used cars, went there last week and they only had half a row.

i suppose you get your fair share of good and bad dealers.

Ask to speak to James or the new sales guy (Tom too i think he's called!!) but dont give up!! -they were probably just havin busy day!

There is also another 'ocean' dealer -so u could ask for the 'other' branch if u dont like the feel of Falmouth lot!!

I had a friend who was 20 at the time go into a Nissan dealership to ask about test driving the Almera SRi. The salesman just looked at him and said, "Can you afford it?" You can guess how well that went with my friend. He snaps back with, "Did you not see what I just drove up in? A 12 month old Escort RS2000!"

At the time both cars were similar value and performance. He just stormed out of the dealership, and I dont blame him.

Last weekend I turned up in jeans and t-shirt to take a Masarati for a test drive. Nope, I wasnt buying. I think most dealerships recognise that you cant judge the customer by the cover any more. You need to find yourself a dealership that will treat you like youre human.

Thats why I wont get my car serviced by Robert Stern in Worcester. The one guy on the service desk is so misserable and talks down to me. Where as the parts guy is great. So I buy parts from them but never servicing.

Did you actually approach a sales person? It would be nice if you didn't have to, if they came running over as soon as you walked in, but I've never known any dealership to be like that.

I'm quite well-in with my dealer but I still go to reception, ask if so-and-so is in, or if I can speak to one of the technicians. I don't expect them to come running over to greet me, knowing exactly why I'm there.

You could have been looking at accessories or just having a passing nosey, waiting for another sales person or just poking around while your car was being serviced. If you don't ask, you don't get.
