Sadly, nobody knows yet, as MINI have not released any details, and are keeping the development very close to their chests.

Current thinking is that it will be (a lot?) more powerful than the 'old' 210BHP and will be out in the summer some time.

There is a rumour around that it has been delayed until 2008 now

Not sure how valid the rumour is though.

I got the same news this morning from a fleet guy that buys direct form BMW and MINI!
