| I am not a number!! | don't know, it all depends on your circumstances, your finances, your preferances as in which you prefer, what you like about the current or the new MINI, what spec you have and what spec you want to replace it with, if you have had any problems with the current car you have, the list of questions could go on and on and on........ maybe a bit more information might help you gain some opinions on what to do ![]() oh and no need to shout, we're not deaf ![]() Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

Offline | New one!!! Personally i'd give it a few months (i feel it's never a good idea to buy a new model car when it's just started it's production run). There's always initial gremlins so i'd give it six months with your 05 (if you can bare it)! let Mini sort out any gremlins than get a 2007 07 registered car (also 56 number plates just don't look right). |

Offline | Old or new, I am totally confused, I can buy an old MCS at non-discount prices (which I thought was most unusual for old, get rid of, models) or opt for the new, which at the moment will either grow on me or reman like the Ford Sierra, GTI MK2, Scorpio or the current Beemers! One dealer has offered to hang onto an old model demonstrator until I have test driven the new MCS, best offer yet! The money they want for the old model is unrealistic though, so I am suddenly likeing those wierd ugly headlamps on the nrw one! I have a current 3 series, ugly car with a wierd knob! Phew.. it's only a Company car, so that's okay! 5 series on it's way.....oh no!!! ![]() |

Offline | I am not sure why you are confused, it sounds as if you have the best of both worlds to me. If a dealer has offered to retain a demo old model until you have driven the new one, I would jump at that? As long as it is specced up to your liking of course? P.S. I would ask to change to a MB 320 if I were you, I have one and not only is it good looking but it does the job very well ... almost fun Not like a MCS of course! ![]() GP 0904 |

| What's Next? | Oh come on, I didn't have you down as being naive! Do you honesty think any dealer is going to refuse to sell a car to someone else just because you might be interested in it? The only reason they will be 'hanging on to it' is if it was registered less than 3 months before the launch date of the new model, in which case they can't sell it! |

Offline | HAHA.......but you have my 'number' already don't you'! Of course I don't ...... I just hate the idea of buying an old model car new, even if its compared to the GTI Mk 1 & its ghastly replacement the Mk 2!!! Last edited by Sharkattack : Nov 1st, 2006 at 10:42 PM. Reason: Spelling |

| What's Next? | No, why, is it on offer? As I see it, you're sensible to wait until you can drive the new model before making a decision. If you hate it there will be a fairly good selection of 'nearly new' supercharged Cooper S, Cooper S John Cooper Works or GP with virtually no miles on to choose from. The only other alternative (apart from the 5 Series! ) is a new Cooper S Convertible. |

| What's Next? | Right, are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin. (For those 'in the know' that read this, I am assuming we are talking about being able to order a new car from the factory, so no need for outrage!) MINI Cooper S is 170BHP MINI Cooper S John Cooper Works is 210BHP (created with software updates, engine modifications and brake & suspension upgrades) Aside from the performance, both of these cars start as a base Cooper S, so can be pretty much any specification you want them to be, and can in fact be identical (to the untrained eye) to both look at and sit in. MINI Cooper S John Cooper Works GP is a one-off, limited edition (2,000 worldwide) 218BHP 2-seater that is only available in one colour and (apart from modifications made after purchase) all identical specification. Is this enough? |
