Offline | R56 memory options Visited my dealer today to discuss how I would like the memory options on my R56 MCS configured ahead of handover on Monday. It turns out that it looks like it can all now be done by the owner on the key fob. Each key fob can be different and the settings include the various locking options such as locking when driving off and only unlocking the drivers door on the first press, plus things such as the rate at which volume increases with speed. I had a look at the handbook for the car and could not see anything that needed dealer set up. I think this is a huge improvement. Can't wait till Monday to get to play with it. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Yes, I think the dealers were getting hacked off with the "I'd like to program x memory option on my MINI" questions a dozen times a week. It's got to waste at least 30mins of their time each time they have to do it and very inefficient when there's effectively no money to be made from these programmable options. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | Save the dealer charging us customers £50 to change the default courtesy window opening! Great news! How exactly is this programmable key programmed by the customer then? |

Offline | I had a quick read of the handbook that comes with the car. As I understood it you scroll through a series of options shown on the display at the bottom of the rev counter and click on the ones you want. I did not have a chance to try it out. It was simply that my dealer had no details of what was configurable and his Mini technicians were actually on a training course to learn about the car so he gave me a cup of coffee and the handbook to see what I could learn. I have to say he is a brilliant dealer. He has never given me bad info and is very happy to admit the limits of his knowledge and work with me to find out more about the R56. |

Offline | Picked up our Cooper yesterday, but I cannot see how to do this. The manual is totally focussed on cars with the Nav screen. Anybody worked out exactly how to do this when you don't have the Nav Screen? Maybe I am being dim! ![]() |

Offline | I've worked out the problem! The dealer gave us the manual for a Cooper with Nav Screen - this actually doesn't have the basic instructions on how to do the config without the nav Screen! I looked up the online version of the non-nav manual, which helped solve the problem. RTFM is all very well when the dealer gives you the correct manual! But hey-ho sorted now |
