Drove one today too. Fell in love! Fairbairns have a yellow s demo. Very solid car, not that my current s isnt smooth but it feels better put together. In terms of driving it feels similar to my dads focus rs. The yellow colour is a lot brighter than the old colour. Very nice surprisingly. Wasnt a salesman who came out a drive with me, was one of the workshop drivers, an older fella. He just laughed at me being so excited but said he understood cos he had a clio sport. He said i was to give it a good blast so I chanced my arm on the bypass and got to 120 before slowin down. Only had 49 miles on it! Liked this car until i walked in their showroom and saw their laser blue s with full aero kit and full leather. £21k!!!

United-Kingdom Rattled

Test drove the MCS today and it was every bit as good to drive and different to sit in compared to my previous two MCS but I was seriously unimpressed by the rattles coming form the dash The car had a mere 120 miles on the clock and it sounded as bad as my last one did with 30K miles under it's bonnet.

I am now pondering whether I should postpone my new car to March 1st and hope all early production quality issues are sorted by then or maybe I should go test a couple of more examples just in case todays one was a "one off"

Drove a Cooper S today, smooth , refined, quiet everthing the old Cooper S was not. It looks better, has a fantastic interior especially with the beige leather BUT the sound track has gone. The best thing about the old S was the addictive screaming whine from the supercharger, the pops and bangs from the exhaust especially with the roof down. Don't need to listen to the stereo!! Don't get me wrong everything about the new engine is improved but it sounds DULL. The old one was very distinct from the Cooper engine, the new one is not. I drove the new S and had a pleasant drive. I drove home with the roof down, revving the t**ts off the engine and had the biggest grin in the world on my face. Get a super charged convertible while you can and be damned with the extra tax and (lots) extra petrol!! Progress is not always a good thing. Interesting to see what happens when you tune the new engine!! What do other people think?

My test S rattled too but not as bad as the old one. Still should be silent like when I drove a 1 series BMW (courtesy car, don't worry.)

Not encouraging then Imagine what these biscuit tins will sound like after several thousand miles I agree refs the new engines lack of a decent sound track so apart from those 2 niggles its a

Thank u.

With regards to the note of the engine, it is a big shame the new Mini wont whine, as this adds that bit of personality to the car. As for the exhaust note, well, pops bangs the whole lot was going on !! Also relised that the exhaust doesnt have 2 back boxes but just one biggg one, didnt relise that before.

As for the cabine bangs, skweakes, rattles, things falling appart, there didnt seam to be any noise, but then again i was so impressed with the power that i was not realy concentrating!!

Have to say I've yet to drive a rattly new MINI, where as most of the outgoing model MINIs I've driven (including all of mine/our families) have had rattles somewhere or another!

Hope I haven't just cursed my new car!

Well I was very disappointed to test drive a rattling brand spanking new MCS to the point where I am seriously considering delaying my order to March 1st. Fortunately for me due to a dealer **** up my original car build WK47 has been sold on to another victim and I am down for a WK50 build which I may well delay in the hope minor quality glitches get sorted sooner rather than later

Dont worry about the missing whine, we can finally have the by-pass valve everybody keeps asking if they can fit

Had a good blast today in perfect conditions on big wide roads, & as long as you`re already doing above say 3500revs then its quite nippy.
BUT ... If you shift down to 4th to overtake from 70 as I did, then be prepared for a "little" wait before the turbo kicks in.
In reality, this was probably no more than 1/2sec, but was nonetheless a very disappointing experience in from what I`d read was a Sorted car.

The reversing graphics which pop up on the nav screen look interesting, but hold on a minute, arn`t you supposed to be looking over your shoulder whilst reversing.

Think I`ll wait for the JCW or Facelift version which will hopefully dump the inadequate turbo

On a positive note though, it didnt rattle
