I'm due to pick up my MCS tomorrow morning at 9.30am and the dealer has just rung to tell me that although my car is at the dealers(which I know cos I have photos) MINI won't release it until it's had an update... Has anybody else heard of an update?

Cheers Washy, mine is a week 32 build but is oviously still affected, I've just been trying to sort out the insurance because as of tommorow midnight my current car wouldn't be insured. The insurance had already sent out a cover note with the wrong number plate and I had to get them send one out recorded to make sure I had got it for tomorrow morning. Now they want to charge my £5.50 to cover my current car until Monday. My dealer is saying they are hoping it's a quick upload and that I will have it on Monday. I'm cheesed off because I'm at work on Monday so my pick up(if it is Monday) won't be until after work so not much driving about(

having said all that there are people starving in the world and i'm having a strop cos I can't have my car on time

I must admit that I am a little sceptical of this new modification. It obviously saves fuel and enhances BMW's image of reducing pollution, but it is something else that can go wrong, and also increases wear on the starter motor and battery. I should imagine that 99% of the owners who have it will press the middle button between the Sports and ACT to turn it off!

If you switch it off then you will save £20 a year road tax, not bad for just pressing a button after each time you start the car !!!

Just a quick catch up, I've been on holiday in Wales since last weekend. I love my car
The more I drive it the more I appreciate it. The gearbox is beautiful and smooth, the exhaust note is just about right IMO, the power..it's great for overtaking safely, there are no rattles or squeaks, I'm really happy with the Hi Fi system and I know it's softer than the old version but for most of my driving it's just right..it handles speed humps easily without any crashing or banging ..and that's on the 18"wheels. I love the looks and I'm really happy with my wheels.Ohh and the brakes are great. much better than i was used to and i'm still finding that i'm occasionally braking to much even after 700 miles.
I took my Meguiars quick detailer to keep it nice and clean and I had quite a few conversations on the caravan site with people walking past and a lot of nice compliments .
The only bad thing was when the car was parked in New Quay (Wales) . We were coming back to the car and from a distance i thought 'she is sitting on my car'. Sure enough as I approached I could see that there was a family and the daughter who must have been about 18 or 19 was sat on the wing/bonnet of the car. No repect some people. I asked her if she would mind not sitting on my car and stopped short of helping her off. The cheeky thing was they weren't with a car in the car park but were waiting for a space so they asked us to wait until their dad/driver whatever had a chance to get to the car park to save someone else getting it...needless to say we didn't.

I'll say it again....I love my car

Hey zyo, can't beleive some people do that. What makes them think they can just sit on someones car? I wouldn't have had the restraint! Once I was at the airport and my car got hit 3 times, I should have been arrested the way I was shouting and balling even though there was no damage! Hope your car is ok too.

Just a quick question, really like your MCS with the JCW 18in wheels and I was thinking about getting the same for mine. If you don't mind me asking how much did they set you back? I presume they were dealer fit and they took the wheels and tyres that were fitted to your MCS as standard back?

Cheers

Chris

Thanks a lot there 118, I really like the JCW rims you have on yours and the R95's ,the ones that I'm not that keen on are the ones that a lot of people are going for (not sure of the code name) the ones that are available in either the black finish or the polished finish, to me(and this is just my opinion, please don't take offence anyone) but to me they don't really look like an 18" wheel, I don't know what it is about the design but they look like 17's to me.

Just had a couple of thoughts:
1.How stupid is the lower chin spoiler thing. MINI give you a lot of ground clearance with the R56 but then put that plasic chin spoiler about 2 inches above the road, I've lost count of the times it's brushed something this week.
2.I was trying to get wax off the roof guttering that the dealer had put on there(also the wheel arch) I used the method I had seen on here and had used before...peanut butter. It brought it off the wheel arch great but unfortunately it's not come off the gutter. If anything the mark on the gutter is slightly worse with the introduction of the peanut butter ...anyone got any suggestions. I've tried just warm water, warm water with a bit of washing up liquid and my Meguiars quick detailer but all to no avail...Help

Nice car Zyo

Can't believe some people ( muppets ) that have the cheek to use your car as a park bench. I would have been using my boot as a bar stool

The JCW rims you're on about are the R105's and i pick my PW/B MCS Works up today with these fitted in black

Ooops
I hope you didn't take offence at my comments. After all it is just my opinion and I know that doesn't account for anything cos i'm married
Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
I meant to say that the stop start is great, I must admit that i tend to use the clutch more than I should at junctions so it hasn't been exactly overworked.
On the way to Wales we got stuck in traffic in Newtown for about 45 minutes and I must admit at that point I didn't trust it enough what with the long tail backs so I turned it off, I didn't want to be the one who couldn't get started but the longer time goes on the more i'm trusting it.
The only down side is people stood at traffic lights and crossing seem to think you have stalled

Zyo, no offence taken at all mate. If we all wanted the same we wouldn't be driving Mini's would we !.

Yep i'm going to have to get used to not using the clutch quite so much in traffic.
