Offline | Took an R56 S out today for a test drive, the computer was showing 28.8mpg at the start which came down to 27.3mpg by the end. Test drive was in rush hour traffic and when I did get some open road my foot was to the floor. |

Offline | Me thinks that Scottie meant that he's done 150 miles of driving in his R56 so far Will be interesting to see how the MPG shapes up for the R56 - with the R53 average fuel consumption in city driving is about 25 MPG (imperial) or 21 MPG (US) - if the R56 can get 27-28 MPG (imp), that would be around a 10% improvement in fuel economy in city driving, which for a car with more horsepower and torque, would be quite something! |

Offline | Thanks Paul, I will read up on it! By the way, I'm test driving a 2006 R53 at the moment, returning it to the dealership tomorrow - they lent me one for a couple of days, as I'm considering whether to trade in my 2003 Indi Blue MCS (just like your old one coincidentally), get a 2006, and wait a couple of years or so before getting an R56. While the 06 model drives and performs like a whole new car compared to my 03 (no first gear stumbles, more torque and power and moore oomph from the lower gear ratio), somehow the 06 has lost some of the skittishness that I enjoy with my 03 (April 03 build, so it's got the old SS+ suspension) - I'm now thinking that I may just hold off instead till I get to test drive the R56. The 06 just hasn't wowed me enough to want to move 'up' from my 03, I guess what I'm expecting is the "oh wow, I need to get this!" sensation that I had when I got my 03!!! |

Offline | The changes to the setup from 2002 to 2006 people seem to overlook, or forget, and you're right. I switch between a 2002 MCS and a 2006 quite frequently and they're very different. |

Offline | To be fair my Cooper has the same combined MPG figure as the new S does (40.9) However I have never even got close to that normally geting between 33 - 35. I think my new S should achieve this and don't forgot most the engines out there are barely even run in yet so won't be anywhere close to their best. |
