Offline | cancelled order again hi all, as an owner of a 03 mcs i put a provisional order in on the new r56 mini cooper s 6months ago.... i cancelled it, then after a first look of it in the flesh re-orderded, then..... after a test drive and some consideration, i have decided to keep my current mini for another 6months until i see a car that i like.. i must say that i am a complete mini fan, however i have tried to like the r56 and there are certain aspects that i do like, hence my indecision.. but i keep coming back to the fact that it doest leave me with the same feelings of the first mini cooper s.. suppose its seeing so many on the roads now a days and the fact that i am growing older!! .. i wasnt a big fan of driving the new car, yes it was quick, but the steering was not as nice as my 03 mcs. I have access to some really nice cars, have regularly driven TT's the new Jag XK and others and still love coming back to the mini, its about the noise, the steering and the adjustablity! its now a more mature car but i think its lost some of its fun, and its front end just doesnt look as good as the the r53... and i loved the way the standard and jcw exhuaust's could be seen from the rear view.....shame. i think the straw that broke the camels back though was price, my 03 mcs with chilli pack, metallic paint, and a couple of extras was 16.9k in march 03.. the same spec (though with some added extras due to mini up'ing the spec of the standard mini over the past 3 years) cost 19k.... just too expensive, especially when compared to the new vw golf gt 30th aniversary and others... so will be a r53 mini owner for a while yet (but have to find a suitable repacement as its hit 52k miles and its time for a change! |

Offline | Golf gt 30th aniversary or Mini coop. been inside both and read a bit on both. decided to take a test drive nearer the time. Both great cars, the back seat and boot the only downside on the mini. |

Offline | I can understand your point of view. I have an 06 mcs and previously had an 03. The R56 is a bit civilised and lacking the fun element. However, the brakes, gearchange and the ride are far superior. I will cosider one in April when it's time to change again. |
