High Speed Stability

This may get pulled but I do not mean it in a boy racer way and do not condone speeding on a public road

I recently borrowed a new MCS (which was nicely ran in) and took it on a private road.

I wasn't racing it but wanted to see how it performed. Whilst it had much more torque, when driving hard it it was around the same (marginally quicker) as my current 175bhp S.

However at "high" speeds it remained increadably composed. At 80 or 90 there seems little difference between the two. I occasionally go to this venue in my car and whilst hitting similarly high speeds the new one felt like it was barely getting into its stride. This really impressed me and a real sign of BMW engineering shining through. However it was only averaging 10.2mpg at this speed

Agreed.

I was very impressed with the high speed stability on the new model

Knock Knock...

....is that sound of PC plod knocking on your door and taking away your licence?

was there excessive wind noise or has this been improved?

not on a private road!

up until my passenger opened the sunroof the wind noise was hugely improved. As I said reached a speed where my current S would feel uncomfortable but this was steady and solid as a rock

The stability on high speed is a big plus in comparison with the previous s.
Bmw hade made millions of miles testing to improve that and they used the same set up suspension system from Z4 fit in the mini.
On a big turn doing 170km/h on a highway and feeling the car so well balanced justified the amount of money the mini costs.
