Smile R56 S Chili Pack - 16in Wheels Wanted!

Hello Newbie Here

Thanks for all the great reviews on the R56 MCS (Excellent source for research) - never really liked the old interior of the old car (due to all the rattles and squeaks during my test drive back in 2001)

But have fallen for the new car and ready to place an order for an MCS with a Chili Pack upgrade - however as i do all my driving in the City i would like the comfort of the 16in S Winders or Bridge Spokes.

As my dealer won't allow me to retain the standard wheels with the chili pack, it makes more sense to "swap" them with someone who would like the 17in Crowns or Flames (Yet to place an order) Anyone interested?

Have you actually driven the new car yet? As the ride on 17"'s os now excellent particularly if you choose the standard suspension. If not I would suggest you definetly do this first as it also makes the car look so much better.

Cheers

Thanks djtex

I have driven the car on 17in and 16in up and down countless speed bumps (loads of them around these parts) and i much prefered the smaller wheel. I thought the larger wheel seemed to "skip" more over badly surfaced roads and you could definately feel the ride was more harsh.

I was going to order an Cooper with most of the trimmings but the price i ended up with was "only" £2k less than the S i specced up, also the Cooper didn;t represent a big enough improvement performance wise (on paper) than my beemer.

That's what i thought!!

I told them they could off load them to another (willing) customer or improve the look of one of their show cars.

I'm sure if you ask them they would swap a set of 16" alloys from parts or a stock car they would be made not 2, if not I'm sure enough dealers on this site would do it for you

I bet when you take delivery of your car there will be plenty owners (especially Cooper) who will happily swap with you. You might want to try posting on the Cooper forum.

I am happy with 16" wheels also.

Nope, I tried and failed to get my dealer to through it in.

Are you getting a decent trade in on your BMW?

hi Wai, where are you based? I ask because if you are london based my dealer will sort you out with the correct 16 inch alloys and a few more extras, I'm sure. (I've bought 3 minis from them in last 3 months and they said they will look after me properly next time).

Hello Tiger

I see you are an ex-Boxster person, like me, how do you find the Mini after the Box? and where is your friendly dealer. I'm in SW London.

Cheers.

Hi Croyde,

I'm still waiting for my MCS to be delivered so will have to see how it compares with the boxster, which i loved. Having test drove the GTI, and the new TT back to back with the MCS I have to say it was the mini's steering which delivered the best feel and closest feel to my ex- porsche.

I'm based in Pinner, but my dealer is in Croydon. Let me know if you want to try them.

Tiger!!

HI Croyde,

I've ordered 2 mini's from them (MCS and MC) - both coming in Jan - hopefully! - and my friend has ordered one too from them - again, coming in Jan, so collectively we have bought 3 cars from them. Basically I've got alot of bargaining power and I'm happy for you to name drop when you contact my sales guy so he gives you the best possible deal. Let me know. I can have a quick chat with him first to prime him so he expects your call and can deliver the best deal.

Very happy to help. let me know if you want to try this, it is no problem.
