New MCS in Dark Silver with Black roof ?

Hi,

Been a while since I've been on here but I may be making a move back to Mini after 4 years...

Has a 2002 MC but ditched it after 8mths due to lack of power and rattles..

Had a ford and a couple of VW R32's since then.. Liked the MKIV but changed to a MKV and its just too refined for a hot hatch.. Test drove a new MCS today and I'm very impressed..

Seriously thinking about placing an order.. My Spec would be:

Dark Silver with Black roof and mirrors..
Chilli Pack.
Full leather (carbon black Lounge Leather)
Brushed Alloy Trim
Vis Pack
Heated Seats
Stereo upgrade
Elec Mirrors
Chromeline Int
Chromeline ext
MF Steering Wheel
Rain Sensor
LCD (Possible!?)

A few things are holding me back though...

Never seen the new car in Dark Silver... Does anyone have any pics.. Been taking
a look through different posts with no joy..

Was showing pic of the interior to my brother.. who didn't like the seats.. That didn't
bother me in itself.....but his description did.... "Those look like rover 75 seats"

Now I'm not so sure about them Anyone else see rover 75 seats ?

The Carbon Black Gravity/Punch Leather will look so much better in a Cooper S than Lounge. Suits the sporty image of the S far better.

Dark Silver has always been available from December build onwards so, combined with the current delay on R56 Cooper S, it is highly unlikely that anyone will have pictures of an actual car yet.

Until MINI get their finger out and get cars to people you'll just have to make do with the online configurator pictures.

Hi,

I too went 2002 MINI, mkV Golf, now going back to MINI (R56 Cooper). My 2002 MINI was a joke for rattles etc, fully expect the new one to be way better.

Someone else mention that the lounge leather looked the same as Rover 75 seats - don't see the problem personally but there are also the punch leather seats. From what I've seen the lounge leather ones are lovely.

What do you mean by LCD?

Did you test the car at Menzies, Stirling? My car is coming from there even though I live by Edinburgh.

Come on over to :: NEWMINISCOTLAND :: and say hello there

Cheers.

Thanks for that.. I think I came across a pic of the punch leather earlier.. Got to agree it does look sportier..

I guess as the cars look fairly similar I'll just need to get a good enough idea from the old car.

In terms of colour (personally - please don't flame me) I am not a big fan of dark silver - but then MINI is all about personal choice!!!

Spec looks good, can't see anything big missing, somethings (elec mirrors, rain sensor, elec mirrors) you could easily live without - again my opinion.

Heated mirrors/washers jets are worthwhile for £40

On first impressions the build quality seems a far far better than the 2002 car I had.

swil00,

I should be getting my all Dark Silver MCS very soon. There's a few people wanting to see the R56 in DS (me included). I will post some pics as soon as it arrives.

On the subject of the Lounge leather seats: My first impression was - very nice but Rover 75 all over . As Scrogg said the Punch leather is far better IMO. Not a great lover of full leather myself, so half leather (or 1/4 leather as it is now on the R56 ) is my compromise.

Your spec looks good though. You must go for the anthracite head lining though - so much better. Beige head lining and pillar trims would look awful with DS IMO.

Yeah I'd def have the Heated mirrors for £40... As for dark silver... I liked it in the old car...

TBH the thing that originally got me looking at minis again was the Sparkling silver car with redwood lounge leather... Stunning car... but perhaps a bit more feminine or one for the older gent

When is your car due ?

Going to see a car with the anthracite head lining tomorrow.. Not sold on it yet.. I think it'll make the car feel smaller inside.. but I may be proven wrong..

Car is in transit now, due at the dealers any day.

I've got the anthracite in my current R53 MCS, it just looks great. I had a courtesy car that had the beige and I couldn't wait to give it back. Just didn't go with the rest of the trim. Black seats, door trims, IP and console then Beige headlining and pillar trims.

I assume you mean on the R56. I didn't realise it was light grey on the R56 (only seen Anthracite at my dealer)

In that case Light Grey might look alright

It's light grey on the R50 and R53 as well.

But you're right in that anthracite does look loads better on all of them!
