Offline | Final spec jitters... I've had a deposit on an R56S since August and have just recently been issued a production number so I'm now considered "On Order" with MINI USA. This is very exciting for me since this is my first dealer-new car and having the option to personalize the MINI makes the experience that much more satisfying. The pace seems to have picked up for me with regards to my order since nothing I want is on the "delayed until March" list. I went from being the 50's or 60th person in line in my region to the 5th or 6th! My specs have been submitted into MINI and I exist online according to thier "owners lounge". My drop dead date for making any changes is January 12th. It goes into production after that (so production week 3 or 4?) and it doesn't sound like it would possible to change anything as it's going down the line. So I've been set on my specs for approximately 3-4 months now... but now that the 12th approaches, I'm getting nervous. For 3+ months I've been confident that I'd put together a winning combination... now I'm having a hard time not second-guessing myself. Basically I've spec'ed a Dark Silver MCS with a white top. All three US packages (Sport, Premium and Cold Weather). Redwood Red Lounge Leather with a piano black dash and dark grey color line. Anthracite headliner. 17" web spoke wheels. Interior and exterior chrome kits. Rear fog lights. Front driving lights. White turn signal lenses. MINI's hi-fi system. Limited slip differential. Sport button and traction control are also standard in the US. When I origiinally considered a MINI (new or used) I envisioned owning a dark blue car with a much more conservative black interior (leather or otherwise)... seeing picks of the Redwood Red Leather (yes I know it's more orange in person... and I like that), combined with the Lightning Blue not sparking my interest as much as I'd hoped (I'd hoped for it to be darker)... I went for somthing completely different. I guess I'm just ranting a bit... but I was curious how many people have gone through the same thing ordering a car. Everyone, hopefully? Anyone care to re-affirm some of my choices, here ? Or torment me with others that you might find questionable ? |

Offline | No to worry msh441 absolutely everyone started with an idea and all the best intentions to order a specific MINI but end up ordering something either completely diffrent or at the very least changing some of the items. I just view it as part of the fun of ordering. Yours is the first that I have read about with the Dark Silver and Redwod Interior. The only cars that I have read about with the Redwood usually seem to have Sparkling Silver as the exterior colour. But I did a quick build on the UK configurator and I DO like it a lot!! Good luck with the wait! |

| TYPE R GT VTEC POWERED | The best & worst thing about mini are the amount of choices you have to make but i dont no anybody who got it right first time so no doubt you will change something before the 12th. The spec is a personal thing is what you want & are prepared to pay for but with the exchange rates @ the moment you are getting a bargan in the eyes of us Brits maybe not for you though. Get on the config again have a play about you will change something again ,then the waiting game starts ,thats the worst thing of them all . |

Offline | Yeah, when I first saw pics of the Redwood Red all I thought was "Who the he*% would pay THAT much for THAT weird of a color?" Apparently, the answer is: ME! I had to see the combo (in pics at least) to have it click with me. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Yes my car is being built the same week as yours (week 3) and I had a major worry yesterday that I had ordered the wrong colour Nothing I can do about it now as my spec is locked so I have to trust my initial instincts.I went into my dealer yesterday and someone was picking and all DS with redwood interior, you have nothing to worry about with your choice the combo works perfectly ![]() |

Offline | I just changed by MCS to DS w/white roof Had gone with DS roof. Also the web wheels. If you like the red go for it, but resale may be hard piano black dash showes scratches so be careful cleaning it. |
