Offline | Spotlights for R56 Cooper S Our new PW Cooper S has arrived at the dealership and is for all intents and purposes ready for collection but..... - we have been informed that the additional headlights or spotlights that we've spec'd are not yet available for the new Cooper S. Is this a know/common issue? I've seen some new Cooper S's within the galleries and forums with the new spots but they all seem to have AERO kits (which have different grills (I think) - which, I've been lead to believe is part of the prob/issue) Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - first post on MINI 2! |

Offline | Welcome to Mini2 and Congrats on the Cooper S We have the spots on our Cooper........Fantastic. The only thing we can think of is that its something to do with the grill being a mesh on the S and slats on the Cooper. Maybe a different mounting or a grill mod required. |

Offline | Welcome to Mini2 Archie, I'm hoping it's not a problem because I am picking up my DS MCS on Saturday with the spot lights! My dealer has told me they have them there ready to fit. Not sure about the cooper, but on the S it needs a new front mesh grille with the cut outs to accept the mounting brackets. They are sold as a set - Grille and brackets. According to the price list, there are 3 grille sets - MC, MCS & Aero. |

Offline | Thanks for the responses - very illuminating (sorry - couldn't resist) I'm loosing confidence in my dealer fast!! - They're claiming that whilst the Cooper spots are available, they aren't yet available for the Cooper S (the grill being the difference) - worse still they've no idea when they're likely to become available ![]() |

| Open Door..Step Out..Easy | Hi Archie, Welcome to MINI2 (pretty much the only place you'll ever get the right answer to any MINI-related question! )Tell your dealer that the Additional Headlights are available in two colours: Part No. 63 12 0 417 669 - Chrome Part No. 63 12 0 420 291 - Black As Purple Dave has already said, they will also need the replacement Cooper S Front Grille and brackets: Part No. 63 12 0 422 704 Alternatively, get them fitted by a dealer that can actually be bothered to find out the facts! ![]() |

Offline | I was originally quoted £450 fitted but after beating my dealer up about the delays, they have agreed to do them for £300 I phoned around the local dealers and was quoted anything from £325 to £475. They ain't cheap though. |

Offline | Spotlights and cost Here in the good old US of A, I ordered a Cooper S with the spotlights. We live in the country and need illumination way down the road to avoid hitting some critters. The list price for the lamps is $400 and then there is dealer installation which adds on another $450. Guess it is worth it to keep my insurance rates down and the local varmints safe. ![]() jon |

| Open Door..Step Out..Easy | The RRP for the Additional Headlights is £145.00, and for the replacement grille and brackets is £37.95. Both prices include VAT but not our old favourite, fitting, As the front grille and headlights are now part of the body, not the bonnet, the fitting time has been greatly reduced, so expect dealers that are keen to promote this accessory to charge somewhere around the £300 mark. As with everything else these days, it will pay to shop around. |

Offline | Scrogg, I got quotes from 4 dealers for the R56 lamps ... I was told by 3 dealers that the labour time has increased from the R53. Thats why the price has gone up. The other dealer didn't have the price for the R56 lamps and quoted me £325 (R53 price). The 3 dealers R56 prices ranged from £385 to £475 and when I asked them to match the £325 price, they laughed and said whoever quoted that is still quoting for the R53 lamps! and if I can get them to fit them for £325 then go for it. As they all said the same story, I chose to believe them at the time. Luckily I agreed a price with my dealer of £300. Are all the dealers in the SE trying it on? |

| Open Door..Step Out..Easy | They probably just know that you Essex Boys are all loaded! But seriously, your dealer wouldn't be fitting them for £300 if they were making a loss, would they? My old dealership is doing them for about £285 (I can't remember the exact figure) as they were losing business to a local rival on the old model by being almost £100 more expensive. They did say about a month ago that the figure was subject to review after fitting a few sets, but nothing has changed yet. |

Offline | Thanks to all your replies, I've been able to clarify with the dealer that the spotlights are available (they were trying to order "black" spots rather than chrome - apparently the (new?) black spots are not yet available). Further, I've also been able to negotiate a circa £100 reduction on the cost (through ringing round other local dealers - Sandal included - although they quoted £307.74 rather than the £250 highlighted above!??!?!) The outcome of the above is that we are hoping to take delivery of our new PW/B MCS with spots (and stripes) on Friday @ 9:00 - roll on! Many thanks for all your helpful advice |
