Offline | Dilema ! As you all know. ive oredered a MCS for 1st March delivery. Trouble is that my employer has negotiated at least a £1500 discount on the car but in order to take this i need to cancel my existing order. The new dealer has said that if i order the car from them that i would get it in the middle of March. Should i change my order and get a later one to save this money,,,,,,,,im disappointed but i think its going to be worth it. Im both sad and happy at the moment. As a result, should i go for the LSD and add this to the option list? |

| Open Door..Step Out..Easy | £1500 off? Great result Tony! Either a) Your firm buys bucket-loads of BMWs from this dealership? or b) They are desperate to sell cars? if it's b) can you please PM me the name of the dealership, as I'm looking to place an order in the next few weeks? As it took you a mere 7 minutes from starting this thread to posting that you've decided to go with the new dealership (good luck getting your deposit back, by the way) I'm guessing the dilemma is whether or not to spec LSD on the new car, not whether or not to change dealership? |

Offline | Cheers Scrogg Yes that was what my dilema was.................i had too much wine last night But as an aside, it was too much of a superb discount and i did come to a great agreement with my original dealer who have been superb throughout and i will be using them for servicing etc etc. |

Offline | Just a scheme that my employer have arranged........just goes to show that there are discounts somewhere. On the flip side, they are getting all the discounted money back in the number of options ordered ![]() |

Offline | Good stuff. Just goes to show that the yarns dealers pull are not true. I've had 2 dealers telling me "BMW do not allow us to give a discount n MINIs" - yeah right! Scrogg, how much profit is there for a dealer selling a MINI at full price? dealers also tell you stuff about how they hardly make any profit selling a new car? Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | To be fair though. My 'old' dealer could/did not believe it until it was proved. So it is correct, no deals to be had from dealers. On the other hand, i wonder how much a BMW employee pays for their car...........it bet its not full price. ![]() |

I've had 2 dealers telling me "BMW do not allow us to give a discount n MINIs" [quote] If this was true it would amount to illegal Resale Price Maintenance, would breach Competition law and could expose BMW to very substantial penalties. But then we know its B*****ks anyway |

Offline | Ive come to an arrangement and paid a goodwill gesture which i only see as fair for the work that they have put in (ive been back loads of times changing spec etc etc). They have been very understanding about the whole thing. After all, they will be getting the car for servicing/repairs etc. Im hoping to still get the car in mid March but i will find out more on Monday. |

Offline | I was speaking to someone from the Military the other day and he had a Ford Focus ST which retails in the UK for around 20K. Any prizes for guessing how much he paid? (to comply with the conditions it must be out of the UK for at least 6 months and they cant sell it until they have owned it for 6 months.) And the answer is..................£12360 So just think how much Ford are making on every car. (not forgetting Gordon Browns markup) |

| Open Door..Step Out..Easy | Dealer margin on a new MINI is 8% of the pre-VAT price, so they really don't make as much as people think. Add to that the national average of £700 per unit on used cars and it gives you an idea of how much a MINI dealer has to pay rent, rates, bills, wages, fuel, advertising, etc, etc, etc. Lets just say there isn't much left at the end of every month. ![]() |

| Open Door..Step Out..Easy | The figure I hear most often is 12.5% off the retail price on any model, but that had never been officially confirmed by anyone. Sounds fairly realistic though, when BMW dealers are discounting 10% or sometimes more on a daily basis. Nowhere near as good as Ford though, who's staff discounts are up to 30% plus whatever 'freebie' or extra money off offers are running at the time. |
