Dark Silver MCS experiences

Hi, my MCS is due in April (DS with white roof and bonnet stripes) and I cant wait. But so far i haven't seen any Cooper S's outside of the show room on the road etc although i have seen 2 cooper's?

Any MCS owners want to shed any driving experiences such as beating other comparison cars at the lights or for speed etc to tantalise me for the next 2 months?

Also any ideas how many MCS have been sold so far in the UK?

Street racing discussion isn't allowed on MINI2. But as for general experience, mine's here: http://www.mini2.com/article421-long...000-miles.html

Beating cars off the lights? How old are you?

MINIs never have been that quick off the line. I'm not sure if the R56 is any better, but certainly my Cooper and now particularly my S Works certainly aren't anything special "off the lights" (as in setting off, not childishly racing). It's more about in-gear power, that's where it matters to most people...in which case it's of course a different ball-game as soon as you get into 2nd...

LOL Mark,

How old are you? There is nothing better than having a great pull off and excellent gear changes while racing another car.

Telboy, as soon as i get mine in March I will let you know.

MINI, it is a way of life.

Glad I've amused you.

There's nothing better than having a great pull off while racing another car? Not tried it myself, maybe I should.

Just make sure you don't get caught - I imagine going to court to answer charges of 'performing a lewd act whilst in control of a motor vehicle' could be fairly embarrassing!

I have now had mine for 11 weeks and have done over 2000 miles. It is getting better and better and I am very pleased with it. So far no significant problems. The engine management light did come on but there was no effect on performance and the dealer cleared it while I waited and did a software upgrade as there was a new release 2 weeks ago.

I find the HiFi good and have had the Ipod connector installed which works well.

Performance seems very good, better even than I expected and the ride on 17s with standard suspension is firm but not overly so. My fuel consumption is coming out at about 32mpg but then I rarely seem to use 6th gear. My only criticism is that I think the gap between 3rd and 2nd when changing down seems a bit too wide. Perhaps the higher gears could have been spaced out a bit more.

You need to 'heel and toe' then you won't notice the gap.

I've cleared the 2500 Miles mark now and as many others have said, the S just keeps getting better. Acceleration, handling and brakes in particular are excellent. The only "problem" I've found is flooring it when overtaking on A roads (I'm used to a 52 Cooper) and realising I'm doing 90 mph soon after!

Had my first decent drive in the new car on Sunday. Went out just for the hell of it over the Mendips which is a great drive lots of nice roads & fantastic views

Was a really nice winters day, clear blue sky and about 5 degrees. Had the sunroof open, heating on and the Hi-Fi system playing ridiculously loudly

It was one of those drives that just makes you appreciate how good this car is.

So far so good, only done 200 miles but the car looks well attracts alot of attention from passers by, and goes like my g/friend very fast haha (hope she doesn't see this) Had a boy racer pull up at the side of me but thought why bother i now iam going to beat him and i didn't want to but my foot down when ive only had the car a week. Love the cruise control ideal for those trips to manchester to watch the red devils, and when the time is right i will screw the car(just like my g/friend) and see what its capable off hopefully much more than my g/friend fingers crossed iam so going to be in trouble after this.

I went to sainsbury's on sunday, an pulled up to my usual parking isle, and low an behold and astro black r56 mcs and a dark silver r56 mcs with an aero kit.. i parked my car a little further up the isle!! I'm not a great fan of the r56 styling, they looked good enough though, nice and new and, but ( and i know I will get slagged for this) I just prefer the R53 shape. ... dont want to open a can of worms as I have discussed this before in other threads..

was supprised as until then I had only seen 3 on the roads.. aberdeen is a popular place to see minis!

I had a r56 for a couple of days recently, have been working hard so havent had time to post my own comparison thoughts, will try and draft something up later in the week... like my jcw better (thank goodness because its not that old!!) but can see why others will like it!
