stubborn gear box

Has any body noticed that in this cold weather that the gear box on the new MCS is
tricky. It,s mainly on first and second gears, sometimes i get a refusal in first. It's fine when it warms up but that seems to take quite some time too.

Yeah I noticed that the gears are more stubborn when its cold as well. My old Cooper was similar though so i've just put it down to the new gearbox having the same trait.

Thought it was just me!!!! Made a post in Popey's gearbox thread and when no one replied i thought it was just my imagination!!! It just seems to affect 2nd gear - its not too bad today, so i think you could be right that its the cold weather as the temp here today it a lot milder than the last few days.

Going to see how I get on over the next few days before I decide whether to ring the dealer about this. Hopefully my left arm wont have fallen off from the strain by that stage!!!!

Never had a problem selecting a gear in mine, its a tiny bit notchy maybe but that doesn't cause any problems.

The extreme cold thickens the gearbox oil......you just have to change gear gently until the oil warms up. Once it's clocked a few K miles it will be OK.

My cooper s is hard to get in gear when cold. It also makes a funny noise when gearing down from third to second and if you are in first going down a hill! It's like a wooing sound
