Limited Slip Differential?

Would someone kindley explain the benefits of LSD & should I add it to my Cooper S? I'm at my wits end

Well LSD will allow your car to have more traction when you do some spirited driving.
It sends power to the wheel with the most traction thus giving you faster cornering speeds.

I did not opt for it on my new MINI because i thought i do not need but i did choose DSC to keep my car on the right path.

MINI, it is a way of life.

Someone wrote into EVO magazine and asked this very question - from the top of my head (I'm at work) I think they said that it's only worth having the LSD if you really like driving fast or do trackdays.

I'll try and find it when I get home - it was either this month or last month's magazine.

Personally for that price (£100 I think?) I'd specify it. I have read on here about some people finding the new cooperS to squirm around.

It's also worth looking at Clarkson's review from this weekend as I think he mentions the car being squirmy, but doesn't say whether his car has an LSD or not!

Go for it. It made a massive difference on the 1st generation, sure it will on this car too. And at £100 from new it'll be a damn site more to retrofit if you change your mind!

This is the model in the MINI:
GKN Driveline : Automotive Driveline Components : Super LSD

http://www.gkndriveline.com/drivelin.../Super_LSD.pdf

But I have no idea of how it is set in the MINI.

Right you've convinced me, thanks all, I've added it to my spec, and I'm not gonna change it again. BTW if it turns out to be rubbish I'm coming after you guys
