Offline | Sizzling lid!! After a 10 mile trip in my MCS I got out and felt the bonnet on the car. Touching just behind the scoop (the bonnet bulge area) I realised the lid was scorching hot - not just warm or hot, but sizzling hot. I understand a car engine generates heat when operating but I did not expect the bonnet of my MCS to get this hot - you could fry an 8oz steak on it! Does anyone know if this is normal? If so, is it the turbo that is generating much of this heat? Can you nice folk try an experiment and see if your bonnet becomes this hot after a 30 min trip - those that do, please be careful when touching the bonnet as the temperature really does get very high. Appreciate any useful feedback. cheers |

Offline | Hmmmmmm drove back from Hertford (Essex) to Wolverhampton this morning (3.5hours) and the bonnet on my r56 cooper was hot but not as hot as is been described on here. You could hold you hand on it for as long as you want not that there'd be much point in it. So maybe its just the S's. |

| Giggity-goo! | LOL true. Although I would think the scoop itself was a hazard with the MCS. One over- zealous slip.... If you could cook a steak on it that doesn't sound too good to me. Although you might be able to use some steam from your radiator to cook some vegetables. Quite how you would prepare a creamy peppercorn sauce though, I'm at a loss ![]() ![]() |

| Giggity-goo! | Now that is true Back on topic though, it's fairly cold weather at the moment. During the height of summer I imagine it will be even worse. Particularly if the car has a dark paint. I know car paint is resiliant, but do you think it could withstand such high temperatures long term? ![]() |
