Offline | My opinion..... MINI Cooper S to July 2004: The best factory exhaust sounds. Lovely pops, burlbes and cackles. Cooper S July 2004 onwards - Too raspy, too asthmatic, trying too hard. Easier to pop and burble, but not as nice as before. 2nd generation Cooper S: Really deep and sport, nicer than both the above, bangs/pops etc, but not as "burbley", and no "raspy" like the July 2004 onwards S. But of all the "standard" options, I think the JCW exhaust on the first generation wins overall, followed by the 2nd gen S, then the first of the first gens. |

Offline | Mini Cooper S to July 2004 with a Milltek (which sounds better than the JCW exhaust) pops crackles and burbles and sounds superb hence me buying one a couple of years ago ![]() I do like the deep sound of the 2nd gen exhaust it has a nice quality sound to it. When in car though the first gen BMW Mini cant be beaten supercharger whine plus exhaust note are music to the ears, like a finely tuned instument (with Milltek). Although Id be interested to here what the Milltek on the new turbo S sounds like ![]() |

| Remember | Agree with what Paul says, but also worth considering that cabin noise also is different to the noise outside the car ![]() As on the R56 you can't actually hear the nice note of the exhaust like those outside, its much quieter in there than on the old MINI's, and lot more quiet than my MCSC JCW ![]() The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |
