Talking New MCS

I collected my new MCS on Saturday from the dealership in Jacksonville, Florida then drove it home (150 miles) to Tallahassee. I now have @ 300 mi. on the car (my first Mini) and am absolutely thrilled with it. It is everything I expected it to be. Quick, responsive, comfortable and tremendous fun to drive.

I ordered the "sport" package that included the stiffer suspension and 17" run-flat tires. After reading threads on this site I was somewhat concerned that the ride might be too harsh. It is not. My '67 Austin-Healey 3000 is harsh, the Mini is perfect. Just the right amount of road feel.

Because I will still be "running-in" the engine for a while yet, I have not been able to really exercise the car but I'm finding that the turbo is always available with virtually no lag. My previous experience turbos was on my '85 Volvo 840. Significant lag there, none here.

Of the cars I've owned over the years, this most reminds me of my '72 BMW 2002tii. It too was incredibly quick and agile, but really only above @ 4500 rpm. The Mini's torque is available from @ 2400 rpm.

I'm a member of the North florida British Motoring Club and our next drive is the weekend of March 16. I can hardly wait to show it off.
