Offline | MP3 tunes i played an MP3 music format cd rom in my mini today - for the first time. If you have not done so before, try it. Apart from getting access to loads of music from one disc (over 100 tracks easily), you also get to see how our car's stereo handle MP3. It's cool. It informs you that the MP3 player is activated, you get tonnes more content - artist, track name, and a whole root menu (not dissimilar to PC root menu). Using the track selector as a jog wheel you can scroll the whole content of the disc and jump to tracks at will....Really is cool... i was well impressed. I;'d imagine this is how it works with the Ipod connector. For those who are thinking of getting this option, it's a good test of how the stereo will navigate the menu of your stylish portable MP3! |

Offline | Tried mine out yesterday too! very cool, I like the way you can view whats playing in different ways, either by whats playing and whats next, and by viewing artist and track!!! a nice little extra! |

Offline | Tiger, How do you use the root menu? I can only get it to scroll through the track names and if you put more than one album on the CD it just continues to scroll though on the the following CD |

Offline | interesting porkpie. I know exactly what you are talking about - you get a linear list of total tracks. what I get are list of albums, and besides each album i have a little + sign, letting you know there is a sub menu, and when you select that, the contents are listed for that particular album - like a root menu. Wish i knew the answer, as the cd was burned for me. I will enquire and feedback. Perhaps it has something to do with how you set up the burn - i.e. placing markers on the cd rom for each album or chapters (like home burned DVDs) - it certainly an great for structuring content and is far better than a long linear list. watch this space and I'll try come back with an answer. ![]() |

Offline | for root menu presentation, apparently you have to burn the MP3 cd as data files, by dragging and dropping your files (albums) onto your drive, rather than as an MP3 tracks which will give you a linear list of tracks (if that makes sense). so copy music as data files. It does not matter that you burn all the data in one burn session, hope this makes sense ![]() |

Offline | Make sure your albums are in folders, you can view these folders by pressing the "arrow up" key on the stereo control, use jog wheel to select album, press in jog wheel to get into folder. Wa bam, easy peasy. |
