Anyone got the illuminated door sills for their MINI? How durable are these? Can the bulbs be replaced if they get busted???

I had the illuminated JCW one's on my old S Works - very cool

they were very durable, but not sure about bulbs as never had to replace them

I got my SS/B MCS from a parallel importer here in the Philippines. I told him to get the door sills fitted at the U.S dealership before the car is shipped out. The dealer should have it. 355 usd on the net but the importer i'm talking to is charging me 500usd hehe

Thanks for your comforting remarks. Someone told me that they burn out very quickly.... But upon hearing what you have said, i'm relieved now. The damn thing cost me 500 USD and they better be durable! haha

These were great on my R53 - they definitely did last the 15 months that I had it.

Very durable - I would say MORE than the normal sills.

I am having them fitted again on my R56.

Thats a pic of my Mini from my gallery with the illuminated door sills.

Unfortunately though mine haven't lasted very well! It seems that the illumination is some sort of liquid and mine has developed bubbles which then don't illuminate, so far only one side has been affected but there are now 2 bubbles that seem to be growing!

Still they look great and loads of people comment on how good they look!

I've had this problem with bubbles. Really annoying

What did you do? Take them back for a replacement?

I never got invoiced for mine due for some reason so I can't take them back. guess that is karma

I was thinking of buying a new replacement but if it went after the years warranty i'd be back to square one anyway so i think i'll just leave it unless they get really bad

I also opted for the Illuminated Sills again but had/have no problems with them.
