An awesome R56 MINI Cooper S! (with pics)

Hi all.

I was at my local dealership today (Bateman MINI) and saw this beauty parked up on the forecourt. I'm presuming its their new demonstrator. It's going to make somebody happy once It's finished demonstrating and goes on sale! Peeking through the glass it seemed to have pretty much every extra ticked!

I wasn't sure about the R56 shape. but specced properly like this one, they look the dogs danglies. I think the Aero Kit is a must though IMO.

Sorry bout the pics, from my camera phone

James.

Never being one to follow the herd and just be the next in a long line to post "that looks nice" or something similar, I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree.

This car just looks dull and bland. Dark Silver is a great colour in reality, but in those pictures it just looks boring. Maybe it's because there's no contrast roof/mirrors/stripes, I just can't put my finger on why it doesn't do anything for me?

Those wheels don't help either. I know a lot of people are still crazy about them, but Burnished R105s on a Dark Silver car just don't look great. Matt Black would have been a much better choice - or preferably completely different wheels!

But hey, that's why no two MINIs are the same, isn't it?

Fair enough! I guess its each to their own when it comes to cars, and especially MINI's with their being so many combinations possible. The only two additions I'd make to it would be a black roof to break the colour up a bit and some mirror caps either the JCW carbon fibre jobs or some Chrome ones. It really did look the business in the flesh, the pics dont do it much justice tbh.

James.

I like it a lot, the aero kit has definatly grown on me and i still love those wheels.

Although it does look a bit 'bland' as Scrogg says, i think it would look better with a black roof

Sorry, still don't like the r56, it's just not as good to look at. I had a Cooper for a day whilst my car was in for service and I still stand by what I've said before, the r56 is a cost saving exercise.

Sorry Photos still don't do it for me.
In the Flesh I have seen a cooper S, and let's say this, I was not turned off, but photos of the R56 do nothing for me.
Very dissappointed not to see any at the Melbourne motor show.

I agree!! I think the main reason is the non-contrasting roof. Looks better with white.

May be it doesn't do it for you because the new R56 front end looks like an injection of botox!

the price of that would be insane
long live the R53!
the front on the R53 was classic
now its just flat and looks OTT with the mouldings so much so it just looks cheap but is far from it in reality
still think the R56 looks like a 4x4
aero a must but not for me
save 6k and get a nearly new R53

Just to balance out your opinion, I have to disagree.

For me, the R56 looks better - I like the chunky looks.

Interior quality is WAY better on the R56 too...

The dealer is Bateman BMW / MINI. Its in Grange-over-Sands, the nearest town is probably Kendal. Its a brand new show room - its only a few months old. The MINI side of the business grew so much that they needed to build a seperate area. I think its cost a few £££ because its awesome inside, I noticed a cool touch, which was a fridge containing drinks etc for customers, complete with MINI logo . I think it may have also had to be designed in order to blend into the local area aswell (the lake district has some funny planning regs etc)
They've got dedicated servicing / repair garages aswel, and the quality of work is great, my brother had to have some damage to his rear bumper repaired and the result was excellent. I've booked in three of my R99 wheels for repair next weekend, so heres hoping the works of the same quality!

James.
