United-Kingdom R56 Add On Sat Nav

Seen at the Geneva Motorshow on the MINI stand a friend sent me this picture of an add on Sat Nav and Camera unit badged as MINI on the unit and apparently available in Europe today for around 400 Swiss Francs!

Anyone seen or heard about it for UK owners

Price

Transfers to your 2nd R56

Research says it's a Garmin unit with special rev counter attachment and this makes it available exclusively through your MINI dealers

You can get it for about £260 (Garmin nuvi 360) if you dont go to a MINI dealer.

If you order that from a US store, it's only about $435. Of course there would be shipping. I have the NUVI 360, it's neat, and a nice MP3 player as well as GPS. I am still hoping someone will buy the MINI version and share the .srf file on there which is a little MINI driving along the map.

Strange they should do a press release on this Today if it's been out so long? Is there any update/difference between the one in the news and the one they had on show in March?

It's certainly a lot cheaper than paying £1500 for the OEM satnav plus £200+ for the auto air conditioning (which you have to have if taking the satnav)

Sounds a very viable alternative......
