Offline | Chrono pack Hi, I was wondering if the 2nd generation has a chronopack like the former did. I know most people didn't like it, but I do still. So that you can have your speedo in front of you? And is the intake on the bonnet really a fake one? I still have the 1st generation mini cooper s. Don't get me wrong, I do like to see the new mini's on the road, I just wished it didn't have a shared engine with peugeot cars together with the points above. |

| Steeve | T'is true that the scoop is a dummy and doesnt do any thing. Just like the scoop on the Works Subaru Rally cars, so its in reasonable company As far as the engine is concerned, it is a BMW engine built in the UK in the new car and not something made by Chrysler in Brazil ................ Offline | It pretty much is apart from the supercharger. Many S engines were far from bullet proof - loads of people had problems with some parts ( a tensioner breaking springs to mind) on S cars. BMW engines have a great reputation - perhaps THE best. I think the one in the MINI will prove to be good in the long run. Info on the MINI/Pt/Neon engine use here. Chrysler / BMW / Rover 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | You need to read the white paper referenced in the following FAQ: Where can engine, powertrain and supercharger details be found? The term "bullet proof" pertains to an engine standing up to modifications, not to ancillary part on the engine breaking. |
