Chrono pack

Hi,

I was wondering if the 2nd generation has a chronopack like the former did. I know most people didn't like it, but I do still. So that you can have your speedo in front of you? And is the intake on the bonnet really a fake one?

I still have the 1st generation mini cooper s. Don't get me wrong, I do like to see the new mini's on the road, I just wished it didn't have a shared engine with peugeot cars together with the points above.

T'is true that the scoop is a dummy and doesnt do any thing. Just like the scoop on the Works Subaru Rally cars, so its in reasonable company
As far as the engine is concerned, it is a BMW engine built in the UK in the new car and not something made by Chrysler in Brazil ................

What, you would rather have an engine which was shared with the Chrysler PT Cruiser than a BMW designed one

The Tritec engine in the 1st Gen MCS is not the same one as in the PT Cruiser, and this engine has proven to be "bullet proof".

It pretty much is apart from the supercharger. Many S engines were far from bullet proof - loads of people had problems with some parts ( a tensioner breaking springs to mind) on S cars.

BMW engines have a great reputation - perhaps THE best. I think the one in the MINI will prove to be good in the long run.

Info on the MINI/Pt/Neon engine use here. Chrysler / BMW / Rover 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines

You need to read the white paper referenced in the following FAQ:
Where can engine, powertrain and supercharger details be found?
The term "bullet proof" pertains to an engine standing up to modifications, not to ancillary part on the engine breaking.
