Retro Fit Sport Button

Hi all,

I am collecting my R56 S on friday. It does not have the sport button because it was not an option when I ordered my car.

What i would like to know, is it possible to retro fit the sport button?

MINI, it is a way of life.

no it means if i have it retro fitted and switched on i will be able to get quicker throttle response and lighter weighted steering.
If I have it retro fitted i want it to function just as if i got it from the factory.

I don't think the Sport button was ever, nor is now, optional on the S--you've always got one.

Depends on the market (South Africa compared to US/UK for example).

You would imagine that they would put out a standard model with all the basic features for all countries and let the customer pick the extras.!!

Different Markets....different standard equipments. For example for the S, in Greece Sport Button and Alarm are extra options (in UK are standard), but we have standard the Air Con (manual) and DSC.

You'd think we'd all want the same things in a car but obviously not.

Just a note, it doesnt lighten up the steering, it actually weights the steering up. Throttle response is great but the steering I am not too sure about.

I think it's much better with the sport button on, the steering feels a bit too light with it off.

I also think its MUCH better with it on.
With it off i almost stall the car as the accelerator pedal movement seems to do absolutely nothing

is there a way of setting it permanently on???
A couple of times I've pulled out of a junction like a granny with the pedal half the way down!!

A couple of times I've pulled out of a junction like a granny with the pedal half the way down!!

I find the car almost undriveable with the sport button "OFF" Steering way way to light and the throttle way way too stiff and unresponsive

So now I make it standard practice to turn the sport button "ON" before moving an inch

According to my dealer there is no way to default the sport mode to "ON"

OK, that's completely wrong. No sport button means it's just in "regular" mode (lighter steering, less immediate throttle response), not that it's in "Sport" mode all the time.

OK I might have my terminology wrong, but is my thinking not correct?
