Road tax price after the budget

sorry if this sounds really really boring

but does any one know if we now pay more tax for the R56 MCS

From the looks of it the S is a band D which is now £140

But i may be completely wrong, sure it was £125 when it was registered back in november

Wouldnt mind if you could see the money being put to use, just waiting for a untaxed un insured idiot to crash into me, that really winds me up having to pay 4 those idiots on the road.

also has any 1 else noticed completely off subject, that school kids have NO respect 4 cars and just sornder across the road making u break on purpose, last night 4 kids were in the midde of the road just having a conversation, but thats 4 another thread,

The only band that went down was band B, all the others went up, and yes band D was £125.

The chancellor wanted to do away with the £10 difference between petrol and diesel cars in all the bands except band B. So did he cut diesel by £10? Nooooooo he raised the petrol by £10 instead AND raised all by £5 too!! What a guy!. Cooper D looks even more tempting now!! LOL

I think the new bands affect cars registered after April 2006.

This means all R56 owners are affected. My tax was £125 for my new reg but will be £140 next year.

This was just an easy money exercise from the theiving chancellor.

No incentive to ditch the gas guzzlers, just and extra £100 - £200 per year from them.
What's an extra couple of hundred quid when your buying a £30k+ motor? Nothing?

Don't get me wrong I think it's all cr*p anyway, it's just the government taking an opportunity to get some easy money in the name of being GREEN .... Yeah right!!!

The Great Climate Change Swindle on Channel 4 the other week showed we have nothing to do with CO2 levels which do change with temperature but actually LAG by about 800 years. The temp rises due mainly sun spot activity. In the age of dinosaurs Antarctica was covered in forest. I have been there and seen a fossilised tree stump by one of the BAS scientists so our global temperatures are still cold in comparison. John Redwood is the only politician who has said we don't affect the climate and should enjoy the rising temperatures after all in the Seventies the same scientists and politicians predicted an ice age. All the other government people have a vested interest (IE tax raising) in perpetuating the "green lies". Sermon over.

Who cares about this, so it has gone up £15 a year! I think the moaning about this is rather misplaced. Road Tax is not a surprise we've had to pay it for years, like anything in this world it will inevitably go up.

Surely the cost of fuel and depreciation is much more expensive. Why is everybody not moaning about the 2p rise in petrol that is effective from the autumn? This will cost you an awful lot more than £15!!

I agree.

I think most people haven't commented on the 2p rise, because the price of petrol fluctuates throughout the year anyway. The government (what a joke) always see this time of year as their opportunity to fleece drivers of another £1+ a tankfull.

I filled up with V-power yesterday and the b'stards had already put the price up by 4p a litre from the price only a week or so earlier !!!

I'm sure petrol stations love the budget, great excuse to put the price up a little more than the chancellor indicates and get away with it !!!

It looks that way; the R50 Cooper is 166g/km, so we've just missed band D. Unbelievable!

Jon - I don't know if you meant to remove your post, but £190 for an S was correct at the time. Next time, I'm sorry to say it'll cost you £205. Cooper owners don't get off much lighter at £165. Still, we all know that the Tritek engine used in the first generation MINI is very simple with no fancy technology, and as a result has quite high emissions.

Thoroughly agree with Griffer - the prog. made my blood boil - just goes to show that the poor public can never win against the massed ranks of money-grabbing vested interests. Heaven knows in what other areas of life we are being ripped apart?

Also agree with djtex - tax on petrol is up by 4p [over 12 months]. How many litres will you be buying?
