Offline | Colours... urgent! Going to dealer in 1.25 hours... Hi, I wanted a Dark Silver/Black roof/Black bonnet stripes. I knew this was the 'sensible choice' and its also what the girlfriend prefers. However, there are some pictures on this forum of lightening blue (darker blue) with White roof, white bonnet stripes and I think im in love. It looks so sporty - though perhaps a little too close to a Fiesta (ST?)! The dealer has told me that for the last generation of Mini's, Dark Silver had the best resale values. I know the blue is a new colour, but I just wonder if the more 'bold' colours could slightly drop more in value than the 'safer colours'. Any thoughts? I want a car I can love, but I also chop and change cars often enough that I want something I can sell on easily. Thanks so much! Neil |

Offline | I think both those colour combinations would sell well in the second hand market. They both look very good. Even if dark silver is 'supposedly' a better colour for resale, I expect the difference would be negligable over another decent colour like lightening blue. I think you'd have more of an issue if you were choosing between a colour like yellow and dark silver. (No offence to the mellow yellow owners but it's not my cup of tea!! ) |

Offline | I should also add, I don't think colour will necessarily have an impact on second hand price (other than the non-metallic colours selling for slightly less to reflect their cheaper cost when new). Instead, I think colour will be a factor in determining the number of potential buyers for your car, but as I said earlier I don't think there will be a vast difference between the demand for dark silver and lightening blue. |

Offline | Agree, go with what you like, as long as it's a popular metallic it's going to make very little difference to the resale price. Tigger. ![]() Unintimated and I'm back!! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

Offline | I know how you feel i was going between Laser Blue and Chilli Red with White roof and strips Chilli red was final choice. I think you will have time to alter spek etc up till certain date check with your dealer on this. I saw the Lighting blue on cooper with white roof took my eye but Dark silver looks very nice as well saw one on Mini web site. I would go with what you feel best and not worry about resale value as i think any of these two options would look very good. Good luck with your new Mini ![]() |

Offline | It could be that, what with Dark Silver being so popular, when it comes to trade in that the dealer might have a few of those in his used stock already and he might not be too keen on laying another down to stock! Offline | You didn't mention if you were going to go for white wheels with the lightning blue body/white roof, stripes and mirrors. They may be a nightmare to keep clean, but they really enhance the look of the Mini. ![]() |

Offline | When placing my order in Dec last year I asked the dealer what the most popular colour choices were for the R56. He told me that Laser Blue and Sparkling Silver were selling the most. I don't actually know why I asked him as I'd already made my mind up that I was having Laser Blue. The fact that there were potentially going to be more of them about was a double edge sword. Yes, you know people are going to like it if they are all ordering them but then also there could be too many of them about. Whatever you choose I think there will be pro's and cons so like everyone else says, just go with what you really want and stuff everything else. You're the one (and the girlfriend if you let her!) who's going to be driving it every day and looking at it every day so it's important to have what you want and what your gut tells you. Enjoy!!!!! |

Offline | Not sure about the UK, but here in Aus, there must be 70% of the cars on the road are silver of some shade. Sorry to all the silver owners, but I coudn't think of anything more boring than a silver car - you may as well buy a Corolla. Trust your imagination. Just my opinion though... |

Offline | A couple of thoughts... First, I realise it might be a bit late for this, but I'd suggest not rushing things. I appreciate you can change your car readily enough, but you still have to live with it for a while. When I first went to the dealers for my new MINI, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted. But after a couple of weeks' further thought (and having looked at the various new colours) I chose something different. I know I'm going to be happy with that. Second, as others have said, specify what you want, not what others tell you. Especially when people say, "Well, I think it's OK, but other people might not like it". This leads to a self-fulfilling prophesy. If on the other hand everyone who liked it just went with their instinct, they might find that they have lots of company... mmalc |
