Chilli Red Roll Call

Here's my new Mini Cooper S. Like many others I was really taken with the red and black JCW car used in the current brochure. I didn't want the full kit (especially the rear bumper) and managed to get a similar look just replacing the chrome front grill surrounds with shiny black (£60 fitted)
The r90 Anthracite wheels I initially saw on the 2004 special edition MC40. Other than a little aerial from Alta thats it for now!

Very nice SCH40 like the wheels and the black grill from the kit looks really good what do they charge to buy this on it's self.

Matthew great news and good choice of colour well i would say that look forward to seing your pic's when you get the new car, we test drove 06 MCS then new R56 and i felt it was faster in a different way, but bought the R56 not on looks but felt the seats and some other parts was slightly better but hey i have to admit the raw edge of the old R53 is gone but the power and noise is just delivered in a different way if you was to ask Washy or some of the other members that have had both car's i'm sure they will give you the info you need.

Love the car SCH40 , the anthracite wheels and the black grill surround go really well with chilli red and black.
If your missing the raw edge of the R53 Derek I can highly recommend the works kit, had mine a few weeks now and I think its fantastic.

Getting close mate. Should be able to give it full beans over the weekend.

Regarding the Aero ( black ) grill. You only have to buy the upper and lower trims. These retail at about £38 IIRC and are a definate must IMHO. Word of warning, they are shiney plastic and everyone that i've seen and indeed as mine were supplied new are scratched very easily. So i spent an extra £40 and got a local body shop to spray them Black 2 ( same as roof colour ). This means as they stone chip, they can be touched up as well. They are easy to fit Derek and if you need help give me a shout.

Hi Scone...just ordered my new S..but forgot about the Works upgrade was available!!! Quoted £1500 by dealer for fitting..is that good? And is really worth the extra small hike in BHP? Or is the extra torque thats makes the diff???

Hi Matthew,
The car just feels like it picks up speed quicker whichever gear you're in and it now keeps the power going past 6000rpm. I would'nt say it was massively quicker than the standard S but it adds a sense of speed and drama that's missing from the new S and I'm getting exactly the same mpg I was getting before the kit was fitted.
I paid £1300 for my kit after a bit haggling but £1500 seems about average according to this threadhttp://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-j...mparisons.html

I traded my Chili Red Cooper last week for a Chili Red "S", and will post some pics in a couple of days. It's red with red roof/mirrors, no stripes...it's red!
