Offline | Storage Compartment Pack? Hi, I picked up my new mini just over a week ago (loving it). I didn't order the storage compartment pack, but due to the build date it appears to of been included (chili pack option) but I don't seem to have that secret compartment. If i touch it, it feels that there is some kind of movement but I cant figure out how or if it opens. I have the lighter socket in the boot plus passenger net and boot nets. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks |

Offline | I went 3 days before I realised I'd got the storage pack free of charge... again due to my car build date / automatically included in Chili pack now. Like you, I guessed because I had the nets and 12v boot socket. But I couldn't get the storage compartment lid to open (thought I would break panel it if I pushed bottom any harder!?). Anyway, I now find that if you press firmly in the middle (not the bottom) it releases and pops out/open. Mind you, my compartment lid (hinge mechanism?) rattles like mad in my car... wish I'd never got it "free"! Not been back to Dealer yet to get fixed though (waiting a month to see what else develops). Great piece of plastic over-engineering! Also, took me a while to work out how the expansion of the rear seat backs works! Hopefully you've sussed that one for yourself? |

Offline | It's what the manual describes as "Adjusting rear seat backrest", allowing you to expand the cargo area (slightly) while keeping the seat backs upright/latched... To achieve, you flip the rear seat backs down, then you fold the latch/lever of the backrest locks (right/left hand side) until your hear engage - then you fold seat backs up again locking onto extended latch. Basically it just makes the rear seat backs more upright, but locked in place to prevent loads flying through car under braking! Bit of a gimmick, and certainly wouldn't want anyone sitting in back with them in this position! Did you get you storage comparment lid to open then? |

Offline | I got mine to open (we keep my wife's sunglasses in there) but it is a bit hokey compared to the other stuff on the car. You have to press it just right to make it open, and it always seems to take three tries to close it again. Nice idea, not-so-great execution... Now proud owner of a 2007 Cooper S! |

Offline | Your a genius! It worked by pressing in the middle of the thing, I was expecting it to just flip open but it kind of moves upwards with arms like a Transformer to reveal a tiny storage compartment. It hasn't been rattling so maybe I just got lucky. Thanks very much Scotland67! |

Offline | Glad you finally got it to open! But I do think manual is very misleading about "gently pressing bottom of compartment lid to open"... instead should say "firmly press middle...". |
