| Number 19... | sport button this sounds stupid but i completely forgot about the 'sport button' as i'm driving miss daisy, still trying to run the car in. i pressed it the other day and i couldnt believe the difference. is it feasible that this can be left on permenantly or would this have a detrimental effect on the car/ engine etc? ![]() what we achieve in life echoes in eternity |

Offline | Like most owners, I ran-in my MCS before using the Sport button extensively, and, IMO, it adds a whole new dimension of character to the car - gives it a real Jekeyl and Hyde personality. It certainly does make the car run thirstier, but the pay-off is well-worth it. I tend to keep it switch off in the congested town conditions, and for motorway cruising to maximise my fuel economy, and engage it for lovely B-road blasts/lightly trafficked dual carriage ways. And i love the fact this sport button feature is plugged directly from BMW's M cars - talk about trickle down technology ![]() |

| Steeve | Problem I have with the sport button is the change to the steering. I generally have the button off, but have used it when having a blast, it changes the feel of the steering so much that its doesnt react like your used to and its gets a bit hairy at high corner speeds as the steering close to the limit makes it feel like another car, any body know what I mean? |

| Number 19... | steeve, i know exactly what you mean. i'm not suggesting it does this by any stretch of the imagination but the best way i can describe it is it feels like it skips across the surface, not gripping the road at all at some points. i love it tho. i dont care about fuel consumption. i love that button!!!! ![]() what we achieve in life echoes in eternity |

Offline | Steeve i think any change to set up tyres suspension, steering, etc will tke time to get used to and i have experienced new tyre syndrome when younger and not a good experience , i take that by your comments the steering has a vastly different feel before you engage the Sport button. I will have to find out in May whet the difference but sound good |

Offline | I find exactly the opposite (I had to be different, didn't I??!!!) Mine seems to do this when the sport button isn't engaged as the steering is so light in 'normal' mode. I find that mine takes corners much better when the sport button is engaged and the steering firms up. I also remember the first time I used the sport button, sat at a junction, thought I'd put it on and nearly ended up in a field opposite when I pulled off. Didn't realise how much difference it would make! |

| MINI2 Regular | There is nothing wrong with using the sport button during breakin. Just don't rev up over 4500 rpm, which is, trickier to keep from happening in sport mode. Sport, as I have extensively tested, increases the steering and throttle response. I suspect that at rpms over 5000 it does some stuff too, but can't test yet. I actually use it on narrow streets with stop signs, or when I need to pull away quickly because you get instant throttle response and no turbo lag at all. On really rough roads, I turn it off, and the steering response chills out nicely. Either way, the car seems to want to go, but without sport, it takes a little longer. 2007 Sparkling Silver MINI Cooper S ![]() Founding Member - DCMetro MINIs |
