More delays - all cars?

We've had a Cooper S Auto on order since the middle of February. Initial build slot was third week in March, giving a delivery of the last week in March.

We got a call from our dealer the day before production was due to start to tell us there had been a delay on the auto box and production was set back a month.

Production was due to start on Monday and I got another call from our dealer today saying there is now a two week delay to ALL MINI's because of problems shipping to dealers . Presumably, not all cars are being delayed, but the dealer has been told not to "promise" customers with delivery days, and to warn them of this further delay.

Is anyone else expecting their car to go into production in the next week or so, and have you been told the same by your dealer?

A.

My car is in the delay, it shows as in transport. Im told some have been showing "in transport" for up to 2 weeks . Seems MINI HQ still have a few bugs to sort out.

At least I still have my R56 S, faulty gearbox but you cant have it all.

Holy Sh*t popey. Didn't realise you were still waiting on your replacement. That is shocking.

Well, I'm off down to the Oxford factory tour tomorrow, so I'll see if I can give them a nudge.

I checked my Mini and the shipping vessel that left 3-31 has made it to port in US where it was delayed a day, but so far nothing else is showing delay.

They'll turn up at the dealerships with lots of miles on them.

Seriously though, it sucks that more problems are occuring but at least this way they're still being focused on and should slowly be being ironed out.

Same thing here Andy. I ordered a MCS Auto first week of February and was given end og March Production, for delivery mid April. At the end of Fbruary my delaer phoned and said that I was given a new production date for end of March.

At the end of March I dropped by my delaer and he said there is another delay. he shoed me an email from BMW Hellas stating that 60 cars scheduled for March production, are now scheduled for April production, but they did not say the reason. Among these cars was my car, along with other 2 Autos. I guess they have a problem with teh Autos at the moment.

Today I phoned my dealer and still there is no production date...just vaguely sometime in April (which I guess will probably become May!!). Anyhow, I try not to think about it...maybe I will get it after I finish my MBA (mid June), so will be like a graduation presnt to myself.

We were expecting our new Cooper D in the week - 2 weeks, phoned the dealer yesterday to be told that its been delayed, and will not go into produuction until the third week ok April and delivery 14th May!!!

**NB**.....we ordered Nitefire Red which has already been delayed and was only due to start production from the begining of April......just wondering if our delay is due to on going issues with this colour??

I ordered my MCS mid-March and it's already expecting to be at the dealer either today or Monday. Seems a bit odd that mine (and I'm sure a few others) was kinda "rushed" through while so many in the country they're built in are being delayed.

Have just got back from a trip to Oxford for a factory tour, asked the guys on the tour if they knew of any deays and they said "No", so I think I will be phoning the dealers tomorrow morning to find out what is going on.

P.S. - FAO - ONED - Saw some Nightfire Red's on the production line, so that is not the problem.

It could just be that your dealer placed your order in a previous order slot that got cancelled. If your order was "rushed" they would put it as priority on Owner's Lounge or the print outs that your dealer gave you.

I'm getting a little worried now too, delivery date is supposed to be next Friday but my car is not yet built. Not quite panic stations yet, but I wouldnt mind having it next week as I'm currently car'less. Wondering If the above delay has anything to do with it?

Another data point: I'm in a similar position. I put in my order (for a Cooper) on March 6th, and it got here a few days ago. I hope to be picking it up before Thursday. The dealer did say that it was surprising how quick it was...

My mates a Manager in a huge Bus building company and he was being asked “ how can you build 12 this week of this new bus when 4 months ago it was 6-7……”

He said quite simply the Workforce had learned how to build it, Ironed out the problems and how to get around them and now they don’t have to think they just fit. Plus by now they had changed a few steps in the build that now made better sense now that they know what they are doing….

So could be the case the Mini’s are rolling out as they have been working on this build a good few months now.

Our MINI sure ain't rolling out fast. It's ground to a halt.

During the factory tour the guide bloke said they were putting out about 48 MINI's per hour at the moment. During the R53 days, they were putting out about 40 per hour. That went down to 32 ish during the first few weeks of the R56, presumably while they got used to it. Now up to 48.

Yet more delays.

Just been informed by MINI Customer Services that there is still no sign of the automatic gearbox for our MINI. There is still a supply problem from the manufacturer. They are hoping to resolve the problem by second week in May!!! But there's no guarantee the 'box for our MINI will be included in that delivery of parts.

It is currently listed as a priority vehicle.

What is most frustrating is the vagueness of what we are being told, which is summarised as; "There are no automatic boxes available at the moment. We don't know when they will be available. We will keep in touch and let you know when your vehicle has gone into production."

I realise it's not any one's fault in-particular, and we were prepared to accept the initial delay, as "one of those things". But now we may not have our new MINI until June. After an early February order. What is this? An Aston Martin?

MINI customer services have reiterated they will make up the difference between the original trade in value and the eventual trade in value, and a gesture of goodwill to compensate us for our delay. So they do seem to be looking after us. I'd just rather they were able to give us more concrete production/delivery information.

Off to sulk like a baby.

As far as I know there are no delays???

I ordered my car in February with a third week of April delivery and got the call today to say car was arriving tomorrow.

Asked dealer concerning delays and his quote was that there are no such delays.

Spoke to MINI Customer Services yesterday and it would appear the delay is with the auto, they say they are having trouble getting enough auto gear boxes to cope with demand, and their next delivery is not till the 2nd week in May.

So, apparently we might not get our MINI till end of May or beginning of June.
