Offline | Guages Ive just realised, the new mini doesnt have info on the oil temperature or engine temp or anything . what the hell is up with that, surely we need it especially with it being a turbo. Has anyone bought and set up any guages for their mini yet, id be interested to know as i want some too. I may aswell ask here also, does anyone know of any manufacturer that makes spotlights to go on the bottom part of the bumper. i want four of them mod companies seem to be taking an age to produce anything![]() |

| Number 19... | i read somewhere the temp guage on the R53 was purely for show and was never in operation. perhaps someone technically minded could explain why it was never needed and if the same principle applies to the 56. ![]() what we achieve in life echoes in eternity |

Offline | An oil temperature gauge is not really necessary. The Mini R56 engine does not circulate the water until the engine is at a certain temperature. Once it reaches that temperature then the water pump starts pumping the water. Somewhere in the Handbook it should mention what safeguards/indication are given if the engine stats to overheat. |

Offline | My new 330D is the same no temp gauge i think this is ok when in Guarantee but look out as if light comes on to late new engine job i like to watch gauge if stuck in trafic in very hot day just in case, i think it's not a good idea with no temp gauge oil gauge i could live without though, cost cutting? ![]() |

Offline | Modern engines now use synthetic oil which are far more tolerant to engine temperature, therefore an oil temp' gauge is redundant. A water temp' gauge is the best indication of overheating. |

| Steeve | If you have four lights at a lower level they will be classed as fogs and you should only use them in adverse conditions. Please dont be one of those t*ats that drive around with fogs on all the time. Good luck with the gauges, but there's really no need, more gauges more to worry about, if you have a problem the car will let you know. |
