Offline | A/C question How do you find the aircon of your MINI's? Is it adequate? I find mine inadequate and cannot cope with Philippine summer climate. I've heard that with other BMW's there is something that they call tropicalized aircon units specially made for hot countries. Is there something similar for the MINI? A bigger compressor and evaporator perhaps? |

Offline | Obviously it is adequate for the uk, ive been using it on the first setting for about a month now as its getting quite warm. But i wont be able to say until we start hiting the mid 30s. On the previous gen mini i thought they were poor, the r56 is a lot better and it doesnt seem to drain so much hp. you barely notice it is on. For the philipines, the way i remember it, i dont think it will be strong enough on low settings. |

Offline | Oh, so you've been here? It's really HOT this summer! The heat is aggrevated by the mesh type cover of the sunroof. The mesh seems to be useless in blocking light and heat. I was using the MAX setting the whole time but it's still not enough I'm having the whole car installed with v kool tint on ALL panels. I hope it would helpl block the heat and allow the A/C to work ![]() |

Offline | I think that the a/c isn't that strong but so far it's been good for me. Summer hasn't really kicked in yet, but right now, it's in the upper 80F, and I keep it on low. I think a problem with the a/c is the position of the vents for the driver's side. They are placed where the air flow is hitting the steering wheel, which kind of aggrivates me. I usually close all of the vents and just direct the inner driver's air vent on me. This seems to be the best for me so far. |

Offline | my pal's cooper a/c was not that effective - he said the air was not chilled when the car came to a halt - so he took it to the dealers. They discovered a blown fuse and replaced it. The a/c is working fine now, he reports. Worth getting it checked out. |

Offline | I've only had my MCS for two weeks and initially felt that the A/C did very well, even here in Texas. I made a 300 mile trip a couple of days ago, and did notice that extended driving in the mid-day sun was more than the A/C could handle effectively. I suspected that the sunroof was to blame, as the shade...well, it doesn't provide much shade! I'm going to have the sunroof tinted, and hopefully that will help. Does yours have the sunroof? OOPS! I just read your reference to your sunroof...never mind! Last edited by VeryRedMCS : Oct 14th, 2007 at 03:38 PM. Reason: Error! |

Offline | I only got my MCS in late August but since we had a long hot summer the aircon got a lot of use. Compared to other cars I've had/used (mostly Japanese) it's below average. The sun roof mesh shade doesn't help either. The fan is also quite noisy in the higher settings. memnon. |

Offline | I got my car at 6th of July. In Greece summer is quite hot (reaches 45oC at midday!). The A/C is fine, but I found that it works very well when you have a speed above 50km/h. When the car is idel the cooling is not so good, but it is adequate. Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius. |

Offline | Does the R56 A/C have a recirculate button like the R53? If it has give it a go. In recirculate mode the air intact is from the passenger cabin not outside so you can get the temperature a lot lower as you are cooling the same air again and again. |
