How to turn DSC completely off?

Hi Guys,

I was at a track day and realized i cannot switch my DSC completely off!!

I hold down the DSC button for 10 seconds and then I get the indicator on my display informing me it is off. Then put some revs on then drop the clutch and then the DSC symbol starts to flash (meaning it is active) and then the cars power is cut until hardly any wheel spinning can occur.

I thought we could switch it off completely like in the R53.

Has anyone else experienced this and how do we get around this? It sometimes boggs down my take off

MINI, it is a way of life.

You don't need to hold it down for 10 seconds, just flick the toggle switch and the yellow light will come on in the rev counter and stay on. You can't turn the DSC system off completely, just the traction control element.

Why you holding it down for 10 secs? You just press it, and then traction is off as far as I know from having turned it off myself.

Another option would be to pull out a few fuses, or the exact one might be better

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

on the R56 you have to hold it down until the symbol flashes and stays on. at least that's what i have to do.

So when it push the button it should not interfere at all? In the R53 that was the case when it is off it was off.

it should turn it off... tbh i've never turned mine off, i only did it to see how to do it, then turned it back on again

i can get full on wheel spins with DSC on tho - like off roundabouts and such, bizarre.

In a lot of cars it can be turned off but will come in if it thinks you don't know what you are doing and are about to crash

Doesn't seem to prevent the Stig getting good times on top gear

I have no idea about the DSC on the Mini but in BMW (maybe it work is the same way since it is the same company) there is a 2-stage deactivation.

1. Press the Button once deactivates traction control, but DSC is on.

2. Press and hold the button for about 8 secs and it deactivates the DSC completely (exception are the models with X-Drive).

Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.
