Offline | Mini LSD versus Quaife I'm going to be buying a BRG Mini S very soon, but am struggling with one issue. The LSD that is optional on the Mini seems to be a middling unit, with only 30% transfer from the slipping wheel. I had a Quaife on my old car (a Neon R/T with about 190 HP) and it was awesome, but expensive. Anyone here put a Quaife on their Mini? One is available for about $1300 (without installation, may violate warranty and will probably be equally expensive to install) versus the stock unit for $500 (installed and fully warranted by Mini). At this point I can't justify the extra expense and risk for the Quaife, as much as i want it - am I missing something in my analysis? |

Offline | I would tend to agree that it will kill your warranty, at least where the transmission is concerned, at least. Be it that one of the two major/reoccurring issues experience by a number of owners here and on NAM has been transmission related, I would not recommend going for the Quaife. I can't give a comparison of the two, as I've only seen the R56 with the stock LSD so far... but I can say the stock unit works like a champ. I would get it. Swap out down the road if you're ever convinced the Quaife will be that much better AND the tranny isues have been sorted. ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike. Offline | I have the same diff in my MX-5 and it works very well. It clearly increases grip and makes the car very controllable. But it is hard to say how the diff will perform in a FWD application.
