Offline | 2008 Mini Cooper S - any Upgrades over 2007? I am looking to buy a 2007 Mini Cooper S, but was wondering if i'd be better off waiting for the 2008s to come out. Does anyone know if the 2008s will be improved in terms of HP, Torque, etc. versus the 2007s? When will the 2008 models be on sale? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Offline | Nothing major really, as it will only be a year from launch when the next model year appears. The Clubman Estate will be launching also, so the hatch wont need so much attention from MINIs point of view. Maybe small tweaks in spec, but nothing beyond that. September is the regular model year change. |

Offline | I've not got specifics at this time to say what will be changed or updated, but really nothing dramatic. Most tweaks and changes are happening on a rolling basis just now, as they tend to do. |

Offline | If you're looking at a September delivery, then I personally would hold off for a September or later build, but only because of the little difference in wait. I don't think there will be much worth losing sleep over in terms of the next model year. But who knows what could happen between now and then, it's a fair way off. |

Offline | hmmm you've got me thinking now? it sounds like a big deal "who knows what could happen between now and then" seems like the R59 is going to be launched haha! seriously though...the reason i asked was because iv seen many posts on here about problems people have had with their mini e.g. popey as one....and if i perhaps waited a 6-12 months then perhaps mini might have ironed out all the problems which some of the R56'c currently suffer from? is that a reason why i should hold off for a sept del? and without a doubt it seems inevitable that the price will increase too! Thanks JM |

Offline | It's not just improvements in build that you might see, but service departments will build up experience on what goes wrong and how best to fix it quickly and permanently; the spares back up ought to improve as well. If you can wait for a while, I'd wait. ![]() Unintimated and I'm back!! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

Offline | I can appreciate it's not an easy wait and would fully understand if you went for it now anyway I mention the bit about service departments as I work in a different industry, but one where the service department's technical people can be trained by the manufacturer, but it's only after working on new models for a few months that they get to really understand them and the best ways to look after them. Until then, it's just practicing! I ran an original R50 Cooper for nearly 3 years and then went for one of the very last of the old model supercharged S's in February this year. Love it to bits Good luck with whatever you decide to do. What car are you driving at the moment? Will it be okay to cover you for 6 or 9 month wait? Offline | Sounds like a nice car to tide you over But there's nothing like a MINI for putting a huge grin on your face. Can't recommend it highly enough My own S is Chilli pack, full leather, multifunction steering wheel and webspoke alloys (lovely to look at, but only for the committed polishers amongst us!) That's how it left the showroom, but then there have been a few mods along the way Just wait until the modding bug bites! Though the R56 has a lot to recommend it, I'm more of an R53 fan myself; this is a long term purchase and should be with us for some time yet. I don't want to put you off an R56 for a moment, but you could try out an R53 while your waiting, if only for the fun of trying a supercharged petrol engine while you still can I'm very used to driving some powerful turbo diesels (so it's not a completely fair comparison), but there is nothing quite like the way a supercharger responds instantly to requests for instant power!Whatever you do, sort yourself out with a MINI of some kind and please keep us posted of what you decide to do. Offline | nice spec tigger! yeh i have been a mini fan for a long time....but opted for a golf in the end over a cooper (couldnt afford an S at the time)......all being well i think i will purchase an R56 S if things are right etc...but im certain to wait for at least 6 months! .....as you can probably see from many threads i'm being rather inquisitive as i want to know all the ins and outs of the car before i make up my mind... I will indeed keep you posted. Take Care JM |

Offline | I was looking at a Golf GTI but prospect of a new model next year put me off. Yes they will have all the bugs ironed out but come trade in time I would get the "it is an old model" bit before getting a lower trade in value. |
